To be eligible for the ICTM Scholarships in Mathematics Education, applicants must be enrolled as a junior or senior in an accredited university or college in Illinois and be working on their first bachelor’s degree with an intent to teach in Illinois upon graduation.
Scholarship Details
- Up to three scholarships of $1,500 each are awarded annually
- Recipients receive a free 1-year ICTM membership
- Free registration to the annual ICTM conference is included
- Winners are paired with an ICTM board mentor
- Scholarships are presented each October
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be enrolled as a junior or senior at an accredited college or university in Illinois during the spring
- Graduation must be scheduled for May or later
- Must be working on a first bachelor’s degree
- Must intend to teach in Illinois upon graduation
- Eligible majors include mathematics education, mathematics with an education minor, early childhood education, and elementary education
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher from all colleges attended
Application Process
- Complete the ICTM Scholarship Application Form through the ICTM Scholarship Submission Portal
- Write and submit two essays of 200–300 words each
- Submit a complete lesson planning form
- Provide transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
- Submit two letters of recommendation from mathematics or mathematics methods teachers
- Include verification of enrollment in a teacher education program
- Applications are reviewed and scored using a rubric that includes GPA, activities, essays, and lesson planning quality
