Scholarship Description

The Meg Graham Scholarship, presented by the Junior League of Washington (JLW), is designed for high school seniors in Washington DC who have demonstrated exceptional volunteer service. This scholarship honors the late Reverend Margaret M. Graham, reflecting her legacy of community involvement. It supports students matriculating to a four-year postsecondary institution, rewarding their commitment to volunteerism and academic excellence.

Scholarship Details

  • Open to high school seniors who are DC residents and attend a DC school
  • Award paid in four annual equal installments to the recipient's school
  • Continued eligibility based on maintaining a minimum GPA and volunteer service

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a high school senior residing in Washington DC
  • Attend a public, charter, private, or parochial high school in DC
  • Matriculating to an accredited, four-year postsecondary institution
  • Outstanding volunteer service record
  • Good academic standing with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA

Application Process

  1. Verify that you meet the residency and educational requirements
  2. Prepare documentation of your volunteer service record
  3. Ensure you have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  4. Apply as you matriculate to a four-year postsecondary institution
  5. Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 in college and continue volunteer work for renewal

This volunteer service award was established in 1982 in honor of the late Reverend Margaret M. Graham, a former member of the Junior League of Washington and former President of the Association of Junior Leagues International.
