To qualify for the Sylvia & Samuel Schulman Memorial Scholarship, an applicant must be a single mother entering or continuing school in an accredited institution in order to learn a marketable skill, which will lead to economic independence. The award is made in two payments of $500.00. The second payment will be received after written confirmation of status and current school transcripts from the recipient. In order to apply students must: Currently be enrolled or accepted and planning to attend next term; Live and attend school in Los Angeles County; and Meet the application requirements.
Students can apply for up to two scholarships and re-apply every semester. Funding is distributed directly to the schools on the following school term. Funds are paid in full and are not fee-specific. Students in their last term are not eligible to apply. The Student Aid Report is no longer required to demonstrate financial need. Financial need will be determined based on essay.
