The American Institute of Professional Geologists Northeast Section awards the Angelo Tagliacozzo Memorial Geological Scholarship to support young geologists. Applicants must be junior and senior undergrad students majoring in geological science at an accredited college or university in any of the eight states that compromise the NE section. The scholarships are awarded primarily on financial need and academic qualifications. Former scholarship applicants may apply in a succeeding year providing they still meet the application requirements; former scholarship recipients are not eligible to apply a second time regardless of eligibility. There is no limit on the number of junior or senior students that may apply from each college; however, NE-AIPG may limit awards to no more than two students from any one college. Dollar amounts will vary.
The NE-AIPG established the Angelo Tagliacozzo Memorial Geological Scholarship in late 1986 to recognize the dedicated leadership and service that Angelo provided to the NE Section, to AIPG, and to the geological profession until his untimely passing on October 11, 1986. The scholarship furthers Angelo’s goal of acquainting young geologists with AIPG and AIPG’s value as a professional affiliation. The NE-AIPG has awarded scholarships for more than 35 years.
