The BMI Future Jazz Master Award is an annual competition that supports young jazz composers and performers by recognizing their talent and potential. Established by Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) in 2015, the award honors the artistic excellence of jazz pioneers and provides crucial support for emerging performers. Winners are selected by a panel of NEA Jazz Master judges and celebrated at BMI’s annual event for NEA Jazz Masters Fellows.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 24 as of February 15th
- Must be a resident of the United States or its territories
- May only submit one application per BMI Foundation awards program
- May not submit the same musical work to more than one BMI Foundation awards program
- Musical works must not have been assigned to any major music publisher or major record label
- Past winners are not eligible to apply again; however, honorable mentions may reapply

- Ensure the work is unpublished and has not been assigned to a music publisher or record label
- Complete the online application form available through the BMI Foundation website
