Scholarship Description

The Community Foundation of West Texas has established the Fallen Heroes Fund to support the educational aspirations of dependent survivors of service men and women and first responders who have died on active duty since September 11, 2001. This scholarship provides supplemental financial assistance to help cover educational expenses, in addition to financial aid and survivor benefits, enabling recipients to pursue their academic goals.

Scholarship Details

  • Available to dependent survivors, including spouses, biological, adopted, or stepchildren
  • Supports full-time or part-time students
  • Scholarship funding will not exceed the cost of a four-year degree at Texas Tech University
  • Can be used in conjunction with financial aid and survivor educational benefits

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a dependent survivor (spouse or child) of a service member or first responder who died on active duty since September 11, 2001
  • Eligible dependents include biological, adopted, or stepchildren
  • Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a post-secondary educational program
  • Can be registered as a full-time or part-time student

Application Process

  1. Verify your eligibility as a dependent survivor of a fallen service member or first responder
  2. Complete the scholarship application form
  3. Provide documentation of dependent survivor status
  4. Submit proof of enrollment or planned enrollment in a post-secondary institution
  5. Ensure all application materials are submitted by the specified deadline
