Scholarship Description

The AIS Scholarship program is to help undergraduate Native American students with financial support to attend college, maintain enrollment, and graduate. Scholarship Awards are based on up to one-half of tuition and need for the term the student is applying for and are allocated directly to the school for the student. Students will need to have their own email account in order to apply. This is offered quarterly. Applications run from January-February, March-April, May-July and September-November.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Enrollment: Applicants must be enrolled or plan to enroll as matriculated students in a university, college, junior college, or technical school located in the United States. This scholarship is open to incoming freshmen.
  • School Accreditation: Students must enroll in an accredited school. It's important to verify the accreditation status of your chosen school.
  • Heritage Requirement: Applicants must be enrolled members of a U.S. Federally Recognized American Indian or Alaska Native Tribe. Alternatively, they can be descendants of base roll members. Proof of heritage is required.
  • Academic Status: Students must be undergraduates with no more than 150 semester credits or 210 quarter credits. This scholarship is for those pursuing their first bachelor's degree; graduate studies are not currently eligible.
  • Full or Part-Time Enrollment: Applicants can have full-time or part-time status, excluding non-credit courses, with a minimum of 6 credits.
  • Minimum GPA: A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 must be established and maintained after the first semester/quarter of college.
  • Federal Student Aid: Completed Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a requirement.
