Scholarship Description

The International Essential Tremor Foundation (IETF) offers the Catherine Rice Scholarship Program to support post-high school students diagnosed with essential tremor (ET). This program awards up to six $3,000 scholarships annually to assist with the costs of higher education, including tuition, books, and supplies. Aimed at recognizing the achievements and easing the educational journey of students with ET, these scholarships are open to applicants of all ages and from any location, fostering academic success and community involvement.

Eligibility Criteria

  • High school or GED graduate of any age
  • Diagnosed with essential tremor
  • Attending a licensed, accredited institution of higher learning
  • Minimum 3.0 Unweighted Cumulative GPA

Application Process

  1. Complete the application form available on the IETF website
  2. Submit a letter of acceptance from the educational program director
  3. Provide the most recent high school or higher education transcript
  4. Write an essay (limited to 500 words) on “How has ET affected my life?”
  5. Include a doctor’s letter confirming ET diagnosis

Each year the IETF awards up to six $3,000 scholarships to qualified post-high school students of all ages, to lessen the burden of higher education. The scholarships can be used for supplies, books or tuition at licensed, accredited institutions of higher education (including trade schools) and are paid directly to the educational institution.
