Scholarship Description

The Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) is excited to announce the commencement of its Research Grant Program Competition. We invite proposals for research projects that contribute to the advancement of education in library and information science. A total award pool of $5,000 is available, and one or more grants may be awarded to deserving projects. It's important to note that the Research Grant Award cannot be used to support doctoral dissertations.

Award Criteria:

• At least one applicant in a group must be a personal member of ALISE by the deadline. • Proposals will be evaluated based on various criteria, including the project's relevance to library and information science education, the significance of the problem addressed, the study's design, investigator qualifications, appropriateness of the schedule, and completeness of the application.

Submission Requirements:

1. Proposals should not exceed 20 double-spaced pages (excluding CVs), and supporting information can be included in an appendix if necessary.

2. Key components of the proposal include: • Abstract (not exceeding 200 words) • Problem statement and literature review • Project objectives • Project description • Research design, methodology, and analysis techniques • Detailed budget (including institutional or departmental contributions, if any) • Expected benefits and impact of the research • Vita(e) of project investigator(s) may be appended • Note: Staff training, general operating or overhead expenses, and other indirect costs are not funded.

Evaluation and Disqualification:

• Proposals will be evaluated by the ALISE Research Committee and additional ALISE members if required. • Submissions may be disqualified for various reasons, such as lack of adherence to submission requirements, poor quality writing, organizational issues, or inadequate theoretical frameworks.
