• The First Generation Matching Grant Program (FGMG) is a need-based grant program available to degree-seeking, resident, undergraduate students who demonstrate substantial financial need, and are enrolled in eligible participating postsecondary

  institutions. Eligible students have a parent(s) who has not earned a baccalaureate or higher degree. Program is available at Florida state universities and public community colleges. Applicants must be first generation college students, Florida residents, U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens, and enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours as a degree-seeking undergraduate student. My mom got pregnant at age 17 and my dad dropped out of high school to leave for the Navy. My dad decided to go back to school because he knew it was important, sadly he didn't finish any higher than his Associates of Arts. This is why I am applying for this scholarship because I am the first generation college student who seeks a higher education than my immediate family. This scholarship smells like opportunity and success!
