NEXT for AUTISM Fellows should be studying in the field of Health and Human Services. Priority will be given to students committed to serving individuals with autism in their careers post-graduation. There are a range of options that you can utilize your degree to serve the autism population including but not limited to: Assistant Behavior Analyst, Social Worker, Case Manager, Special Education Teacher, Psychologist, and Nurse.
Scholarship Details
- Tuition assistance available annually for eligible students
- Pays participants to work as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)
- Open to both undergraduate and graduate students
- Includes mentorship from the NEXT for AUTISM team
- Partner school enrollment required
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an undergraduate or graduate student studying health or human services
- Also open to current professionals returning to school for a related degree
- Must be attending or planning to attend a NEXT for AUTISM partner school
- Interest in working with autistic and neurodivergent adults as a DSP
Application Process
- Check eligibility and identify a NEXT for AUTISM partner school
- Complete the scholarship application through NEXT for AUTISM
- Apply for or confirm enrollment in a partner school program
- Participate in onboarding and training for the DSP role
- Begin hands-on work experience while receiving tuition assistance
You must attend one of the following institutions either in person or online: Hunter College (City University of New York), University of Illinois Chicago, Mercy University (New York State), SUNY Empire (New York State), or Temple University (Philadelphia, PA)
