The OAN Mt. Hood Chapter Award I & II will be offered to a college student majoring in ornamental horticulture. Preference will be given to applicants from nursery areas east of Portland. The Oregon Nurseries Foundation (ONF) awards scholarships to students preparing for a career in ornamental horticulture and related fields. In all, 20 different awards — ranging from $500 to $3,000 — are sponsored by individuals and OAN chapters as a way to support the next generation of green industry professionals. Applicants may be awarded more than one scholarship. Past recipients are encouraged to reapply.
The application will be considered for all awards, not any particular one. Student scholarship applications are evaluated based on career interests, scholastic aptitude, and financial need. Besides completing the application, applicants must also submit a transcript, two reference letters and a one-page cover letter (which should include future involvement in horticulture, financial needs, and any OAN affiliation).
