Scholarship Description

Souder Miller & Associates (SMA) offers a $5,000 per academic year scholarship opportunity to Native American students pursuing a four-year degree in a STEM field.

Scholarship Details

  • $5,000 per academic year for up to four years
  • Supports tuition, fees, books, and on-campus housing/meals
  • Open to Native American students pursuing four-year STEM degrees
  • Renewal is automatic but subject to Scholarship Committee discretion
  • Eligibility Criteria

    • Must be Native American with a Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB)
    • Accepted to or enrolled in a four-year undergraduate institution
    • Major in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
    • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (unofficial transcripts accepted)
    • Commitment to completing 6 hours of community service per academic year

    Application Process

    1. Complete and sign the application form and applicant agreement
    2. Submit a copy of your Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB)
    3. Provide unofficial transcripts showing a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
    4. Submit a letter of admission to a four-year undergraduate institution
    5. Include a clear photo (no hats or sunglasses)
    6. Provide two letters of reference (one from an instructor/advisor, one from a non-family source)
    7. Write a one-page essay describing your background, future goals, and how a STEM education benefits you and your community
    8. Optionally, submit a second essay about extracurricular or community service activities, especially those related to STEM
    9. Submit your complete application by June 13, 5:00 PM MST
