  • The Ruth Scholarship is designed to be awarded for women ages 16-25, who have overcome adversity whether it be by breaking with their past, or have found themselves in a situation not unlike the young woman of the Old Testament story. The book of Ruth provides a wonderful picture of a young woman giving up all that is familiar to honor her mother-in-law—and ultimately God. Her sacrifice eventually placed her in the lineage of Christ and gave her a permanent place in history. The ideal candidate for the Ruth Scholarship will be able to articulate how her own life models the story of a brave choice to overcome adversity or difficulty, and how she will use the experience to make a lasting contribution to the world around her. Hi. I am a senior at Prosper High School and I am planning on attending Oklahoma Baptist University. I have always been a Baptist but there was a time in my life 8th grade until, well just a few month ago that I was far away from God. I did horrible things, I had horrible thoughts, and I just was not a good person. It took a lot of strength to get my life back on track, I had to get my mind back to where it was supposed to be, once I got my mind there, I had to get my body there too. I am still struggling with that to this day but I just have to remember to turn everything back to God. I am applying for this scholarship because I want to be a nursing major and those classes are very expensive, I want to make a difference and help people the way that I was helped.
