Scholarship Description

The Walt Disney UNCF Enhanced Scholars Program is providing both scholarships and internships to high-achieving underrepresented students across the country. This program offers career readiness tools to assist students in achieving their goals in the entertainment industry through experiential learning, internship and mentorship with The Walt Disney Company during the spring semester of the coming academic year.

Program Goals:

The goals of The Walt Disney UNCF Enhanced Scholars Program are to help create a diverse pipeline of college-educated professionals poised to assume careers in the entertainment industry in a variety of business areas, and to help increase the number of underrepresented talent employed in the entertainment industry through the summer internship experience. Juniors selected will receive a scholarship up to $5,000 eligible for renewal during senior year and a potential opportunity for a paid-internship working directly with The Walt Disney Company during Summer.

Eligibility Requirements:

• African American junior enrolled full-time at a four-year college or university • Student must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 on a 4.0 scale • Students must have an interest in pursuing a career at The Walt Disney Company • Students must complete a 500 word essay outlining his/her career goals in the entertainment industry • Students must be available for the full length of the summer internship, if offered. • Available Opportunities for the Summer Internship Season:

The Walt Disney Company UNCF Corporate Enhanced Scholars Program- Internship

Program Description:

• Potential opportunity for paid summer internship at The Walt Disney Company (June – August) • Includes housing and relocation assistance • Mentorship provided by multiple mentors throughout the program • Ongoing professional development programming, in conjunction with UNCF • Early career placement assistance with the Walt Disney Company upon successful completion of the program and graduation • One-time $5000 award, eligible for renewal during senior year

Candidate requirements:

• Interest in off-camera careers in media and entertainment • Various areas: Ad Sales/Media Distribution, Animation, Animal Science Environment, Disney Signature Experiences, • Engineering, Finance, Journalism, HR, Marketing, Social Media Production, Technology, TV Production • Students must be available for the full length of the summer internship • Selected Scholars are required to attend the UNCF Student Leadership Conference ESPN's Rhoden Fellowship - Internship + Fellowship

Program Description:

• One-year immersion fellowship program includes a 10-week summer internship • Professional development through the Walt Disney Company UNCF Enhanced Corporate Scholars Program • One-time $5000 award, eligible for renewal during senior year

Candidate Requirements:

• Must be enrolled in/attending a HBCU • Journalism experience as a writer and/or reporter • Interest in – and knowledgeable about – sports, pop culture and current events as it relates to communities of color • Experience using WordPress, Photoshop in addition to shooting and editing video content • Social media savvy

National Geographic HBCU Media Scholarship Program - Immersive Program

Program Description:

• One week immersion program (Summer 2024) • Six-month mentorship • Professional development through The Walt Disney Company UNCF Enhanced Corporate Scholars Program • One-time $5,000 award, eligible for renewal during senior year

Candidate Requirements:

• Open to both college juniors and seniors • No minimum GPA required • Majoring in media/communications or interested in creative storytelling • Interested in creating gripping, factual stories • Passionate about the planet and interested in working in a collaborative and inclusive environment • Must be enrolled in/attending one of the following schools:

- Johnson C. Smith University - Delaware State University - Norfolk State University - Howard University - Fort Valley State University - Morgan State University

FX Storytelling Legacy Scholarship - Mentorship

Program Description:

• Mentorship with a FX employee • Professional development through The Walt Disney Company UNCF Enhanced Corporate Scholars program • One-time $5,000 award, eligible for renewal during senior year

Candidate Requirements:

• Majoring in and/or planning to pursue a career in film or television production, directing, or screenwriting • Application Deadline: October 31st 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time
