The CINTAS Foundation Fellowship in Visual Arts awards $25,000 to creative artists of Cuban descent who demonstrate excellence in painting, sculpture, installation art, media arts, and experimental film. Since 1963, the CINTAS Foundation has supported more than 185 Cuban artists and continues to preserve their work through the growing CINTAS Fellows Collection. This fellowship supports artistic innovation and expression and provides a platform to advance the careers of emerging and established visual artists.
Scholarship Details
- $25,000 award for creative projects in visual arts or media arts
- Supports disciplines such as painting, sculpture, installation, media arts, and experimental film
- Fellows encouraged to submit representative work samples for archival purposes
- Award is taxable under U.S. law and may be subject to limitations for Cuban Nationals
- Maximum of two fellowships may be awarded to an individual
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be of Cuban citizenship or direct lineage (Cuban parent or grandparent)
- Must be a creative artist in visual or media arts
- Performing artists are not eligible
- Fellows living abroad must provide a U.S. taxpayer identification number
Application Process
- Access the Application and Work Samples Forms via a Gmail account
- Submit up to 10 digital images for visual arts, with image list required
- Sculptors must submit at least two views of each work and may include a short video if applicable
- Film applicants may submit one or two samples, along with a link and role clarification
- Media arts applicants may submit two samples (max 6 minutes each), and links to full works
- Indicate the running time and applicant’s specific role for all work samples
