Hello! I’m a senior who’s graduating this year, and I want to first thank you for this amazing opportunity! I recently got accepted into my dream university but sadly received no type of financial aid. Since my acceptance I’ve applied to thousands of scholarships and been rejected by all. However I still plan on going to the school despite the fact of financial burdens I may face. Scrolling through the comments I’m reminded of the financial burdens most college freshmen are given . With this scholarship, I’ll be able to overcome that burden. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment and have a great day !

Hello to the scholarship committee, I am a recent graduate of Crowley ISD, I was made aware of this scholarship opportunity from mom whom after returning to school to get her associates degree was selected to receive this scholarship throughout her two years of college. She advised me how this scholarship really helped financially being that she is the head of our household as a single parent and without it, she may have not succeeded in her late age. She has raved on and on about how wonderful your program is for helping the less fortunate individuals meet their financial goals and this is why I wish to apply for a scholarship through your organization. She has been my role model that going back to school is never to late. My goal is to attend a local community college for my first two years and obtain my associates degree designed to prepare me for a career in my chosen field of nursing then continue to pursue my bachelor's degree at the university of Tyler. However, my dream is to attend an HBCU institution to further my college degree for my Master's as a Neonatal Intensive Care nurse at Stanford children's Health. Being selected to receive this scholarship would help me out tremendously along with whatever assistance that I may qualify to get from my FAFSA and it would be less of a burden on my mom financially. Sincerely, Jahmera K.

I live in the Houston TX area and I am a senior I applied for this scholarship, because applying for this is my only way to go to college, my father passed away recently and my mother is struggling trying to get me and my sisters back on track, so the only way I figured out I can help bring more income in is by getting a degree.

Asiel Cazlada  on 1/26/2021 2:18:17 PM

Hello my name is Asiel I am a high school senior and i am trying to earn this scholarship so i can continue to peruse my dream career which is to be a private detective or private investigator and i am planning to go to a 4 year college and graduate with my bachelors in criminal justice

Rochelle S  on 12/26/2020 4:34:56 PM

I'm starting college fall of 2021, I come from a low income family so it's already going to be a struggle to pay for college. I also won't be receiving that much money from my FAFSA. My dream school is Penn State University which is an out of state college for me. I recently got accepted but I'm not sure if I can go due to the reason that out of state tuition is extremely expensive. For the past few months I've been applying to scholarships everywhere in hopes that I can have enough to afford my dream school. I also have type one diabetes so coming from a low income family and having to spend money on my medicine and doctors appointments is tough.

Mariana P  on 8/15/2020 8:13:54 PM

Hi, I'm starting freshman year this FALL 2020 and I'm happy to start this new chapter in life. Although, I can't be overjoyed since I would not be experiencing my first year as a college student because of COVID-19. My goals and dreams got ruined because of COVID-19 I wanted to enjoy this last year with old friends, now that I'm transitioning to College, I understand that it's quite expensive to attend College, I was raised in Houston and went to elementary all the way until now to College, this city gave me a lot and took away from me, but overall I'm satisfied of the woman I have become throughout the years. I'm majoring in Architecture is quite an expensive career, for why I decide to apply to any scholarship that will help me get the required necessities to keep my dream from going as first generation student. I would like to win this scholarship to be able to pay expenses of books and supplies, I have to provide my own laptop and they don't come cheap on Architecture, I wished I had scholarship awards for it but I do not. I believe that I will persevere and I will commit to becoming a role model to others. I hope to hear back from you all soon. Best regards, Mariana

Sonia R  on 6/30/2020 2:34:17 PM

I applied for the scholarship because with being a first generation student and the very first child in my family to go to college my parents are new to all this and having to pay so much when my dad is the only person working is very difficult. I want this scholarship to be a big support for my parents with paying school.

Hailun G  on 6/26/2020 5:46:48 PM

Can a green card holder also apply?

Benjamin D.  on 6/24/2020 10:07:04 PM

I am a returning student to a HBCU and due to Covid-19 it has presented financial challenges for my parents to support my financial needs. I am wanting to continue y studies in Cyber-security. This scholarship would help me to continue my education

Jacob M  on 6/17/2020 11:47:26 AM

I applied for this scholarship because i have a single mother who takes care of my nieces (sisters kids) and this cuts a lot of long term stress on her and me.

Shawon S  on 6/6/2020 12:59:49 AM

I am currently a freshman in college and I never heard of this scholarship before but I wish I applied.

Kayla V  on 6/1/2020 3:54:55 PM

I am the second and last to go to college and I didn't receive all of the nice benefits like my older sister did when she went off to college. Receiving this scholarship would be a big blessing for my family and I. With no support from my father and my mom & sister both making sure I am able to continue to receive my education at Texas State University this would be a great contribution to all that they do for me.

Kaila Cotton  on 5/29/2020 10:40:30 PM

I applied for this scholarship as a boost. Being a single mother of three children saving is a must. So I have to now start a new savings, taking away from them for my own desires seem unfair in my eyes. But, I’m continuing my education from Houston Community college to the University of Houston soon and I will need as much financial help as I can receive in order to peruse my goals. I want to make my children proud, being a young mother, many have seen it as a disadvantage, a burden even. But they push me to do better and encourage my occupation decision as a Reading & Writing teacher for fifth graders. They are my first set of students.

Akwawo Ekpu  on 5/28/2020 9:09:57 PM

I really need this scholarships because I am a star student who cannot afford to be applying for financial aid all year long. The loans are piling up higher and higher and I am really starting to think I may be stuck with them for a long time. So today I have decided to apply for this scholarship. I hope I can win this time, its not everyday an ordinary kid like me can get a scholarship

Reo B  on 5/25/2020 10:05:46 PM

This scholarship will help my financial needs as I am the first in my family to attend college. This will help further my education and help me continue my education.

Juan S  on 5/22/2020 8:33:56 PM

My mom has been working really hard her entire life in order to support our family. It has been a tough road, and it is far from over from her. Now that I am going to college, I want to be able to provide my own source of income, so that she must not worry too much about me anymore. If it helps anybody, it really helps her the most because she has spent every last dime she has into taking care of her family. The least I could do is take a bit of stress off of her.

Jasmine W  on 5/7/2020 8:53:37 PM

I applied for this scholarship because I would like to help my parents with some of the bills around the house. They are currently out of work due to the virus going around. This money could also allow me to save a little for my tuition next semester. It could relieve a lot of pressure around for me.

Bibita Chhetri  on 5/7/2020 7:28:03 PM

Yes, I applied for this scholarship. I'm currently a high school senior who is planning on going to University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) after graduation. Damien G  on 4/16/2020 10:28:56 PM

I applied for this scholarship because I wanna be able to help my parents out financially. They have done nothing but help with me, giving up time, money, and who knows what else. I wanna be able to make them proud and follow my goals in the medical field. This scholarship can spare my family and allow them to use their own money on themselves and not on me for a change. Thank you.

Miranda A  on 3/3/2020 12:25:28 PM

I applied for the scholarship to support my financial needs and relieve stress on myself and my mother who is a hard working single parent who is also attending college again. Using this money will allow me to focus on saving up for rent and not have to work so much so I can focus on my school work.

Dakota C  on 1/29/2020 4:11:39 PM

I am currently a 1st time freshman attending a local HBCU and wish to continue my studies in Computer Engineering, unfortunately there are not enough funds available for me to continue. Besides the obvious financial need, I am gentle natured, soft spoken community server whom is the daughter, grand-daughter and great-grand daughter of veterans.

Hello, I rather not tell a quickly written sad story or of my inability to financially support myself. I will however, say that it’ll being great joy to not only myself, but those who said I could do it. With that being said your help will be greatly appreciated and used to further my admiration for those who help others in need. Even if I don’t win thanks for helping others.
