  • Academic scholarships awarded to spouses and children of NCOA (Non Commissioned Officers Association) members. Scholarships are awarded for undergraduate study at accredited colleges and universities.     ADVERTISEMENT
    The NCOA Scholarship Fund is one of the most important entities within the Association. Established in 1970, its single purpose is to help dependents of NCOA members continue their education beyond high school. To date, the Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $1.5 million in non-repayable scholarships.

    The deadline for complete scholarship application packages is March 31. The NCOA Scholarship applications may be submitted from January 1 through March 31 each year. The application is available from the NCOA website. Children and spouses of current members of the Non Commissioned Officers Association may apply. Awards are not limited by race, color, creed, national origin, or gender. For undergraduate study only at accredited colleges and universities. Children of members must be under age 25 to receive initial grant. Grants to the designated school may be used for room and board, tuition, lab fees, textbooks, and related instructional materials.

    Application Packets (Sons and daughters of NCOA members) - Include with completed application: two letters of recommendation from teachers/counselors; a personal recommendation from an adult who is not a relative; a handwritten autobiography; certified transcript of high school or college grades; ACT or SAT scores, and a composition on Americanism (not less than 200 words).

    Application packets (Spouses of NCOA members) - Include with completed application: copy of high school diploma or GED equivalent; certified transcript of all college courses completed (if any); certificate of completion for any other courses of training; a brief biographical background, and a letter of intent describing degreed course of study, plans for completion of a degreed program, and a closing paragraph on "What a College Degree Means to Me." Selection – The Scholarship Committee meets to review applications and select recipients in June. Recipients will be notified in July.
