Scholarship Description

The Failure Fair Scholarship is an annual scholarship award available for graduating, college-bound, Colorado high-school seniors. The Failure Fair Scholarship is open to all seniors, regardless of intended field of study in college. Students must submit a proposal for a creative project, which, if selected as a finalist, they will present to the visiting public during the annual Failure Fair on April 23. Projects of all types will be considered, including, but not limited to visual arts, performing arts, fashion, technology, design, and others. Eligibility: -Student must be a Colorado resident and high school senior -Student must be graduating from a public, private, parochial, charter, or online high school in Colorado -Student must plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university -Student must demonstrate creative thinking, innovation, and a willingness to risk failure -The award will be redistributed over the course of four years, provided that recipients maintain full-time (minimum 12 cred hours per semester) enrollment in an accredited four-year college/university, have a 2.5 GPA or higher, and maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by their institution -Student must submit a proposal for a creative project, which, if selected, they will present to a panel of judges and the visiting public during the Annual Failure Fair -Projects of all types will be considered, including, but not limited to visual arts, performing arts, fashion, technology, design, and others.

Submission materials: -Title and brief description of their project. Projects can include drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, dance, theater, fashion, technology, games, original instrumental or voice composition, design, or other creative practice. -A 500-word essay about how their project embraces failure, creativity, and/or risk-taking, describing what risks were taken and the context in which the project was made -Photos, videos, and/or YouTube videos/links to illustrate the project Up to 300-word description of how they plan to present the project at the Failure Fair, including how they will use their five minutes of time -Letter of recommendation from a teacher or coach -Current high school transcript -List of colleges applied to -Intended course of study (if known)
