  • Scholarship Description
  • The Budding Blogger Scholarship Fund is open to students who intend to major in journalism at a 2-year or 4-year college/university. The fund is also open to students who will be entering the workforce and will pursue a freelance media career. No GPA requirement. Awardees will, however, be required to submit their unofficial high school transcripts. The Budding Blogger Scholarship Fund's application is short, fun and easy to complete. Students will be asked to prepare a 500-word essay regarding their media interest as well as submit their media portfolio (photos, audio, video, etc.). "U of Farmington" Fraudsters Prosecuted, Deported

NC Senator Proposes Taxing of Athletic Scholarships

In response to the NCAA's vote to allow athletes to profit from their names, images and likeness, Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina has proposed taxing those scholarships. Senator Burr tweeted: "If college athletes are going to make money off their likenesses while in school, their scholarships should be treated like income. I'll be introducing legislation that subjects scholarships given to athletes who choose to 'cash in' to income taxes." [...]
