I applied for this scholarship, even wrote my essay and submitted it but I still felt the need to comment on it. I believe this is the perfect scholarship to not only help people bring out their creativity but bring forth attention to a tragically common event that happens to many teens. According to the website VerywellHealth.com, automobile accidents are one of the top threats to a teenager. I hope this is a start to at least a small chance in this misfortune.

Malaya B  on 3/13/2023 10:40:30 AM

What a great chance with a compelling message! The fact that this challenge is raising awareness of such a crucial issue is incredibly motivating. Since too many lives have been lost as a result of careless driving and ignorance, I will apply for this award. I want to urge others to drive more cautiously by getting through to them.

Aicha K  on 2/2/2023 6:53:16 AM

i would appreciate the opportinuty.

Averi P  on 1/14/2023 12:31:50 PM

What a fantastic opportunity with an engaging message! It is truly inspiring that this challenge spreads awareness on such a relevant topic. I will apply for this scholarship as too many lives have been lost due to reckless driving and lack of understanding. I hope to reach through to others and inspire them to be more cautious on the road.

Logan B  on 7/21/2022 6:47:04 PM

I will apply for this scholarship because a friend at my school had passed due to reckless driving. I hope that with my message, I will be able to reach people and let them know the true dangers of driving recklessly.

Christopher P  on 4/21/2022 8:31:48 PM

Thank you for this opportunity. Teen reckless and distracted driving is a huge problem. My family has been directly and tragically impacted by thus issue. I hope I can make a difference.

nathan m  on 4/18/2022 7:55:25 AM

I will apply for this scholarship because driving is the number one killer of all teens. Approximately 3,000 teens die per year due to distracted driving with a phone or other distractions in the car. Too many families have lost their children due to this killer, there should be more awareness for this to help show teens that this is a serious topic and they should be more aware when behind the wheel of any vehicle. Updated from 2022, 290,000 injuries from crashes have happened with distracted teens behind the wheel on their phone. According to the National Safety Council "1.6 million accidents happen a year due to mobile use in a vehicle." 2022.

Christiann M  on 4/11/2022 11:18:15 AM

Many teens consider driving an entitlement rather than a privilege and often test their limits and push their boundaries through a driver’s license. Unfortunately, teens as well as parents never consider that driving a car is the riskiest and deadliest adolescent activity to date. Earning a driver’s license is only a first step in becoming a safe and responsible driver. Both parents and teens must work together to promote safe driving. I am applying for this scholarship because I feel it's important to make a positive impact in our minds rather than a reckless impact behind the wheel. Thank you.

Angelica P  on 4/10/2022 2:38:41 PM

I'm going to apply for this scholarship because I was in a bad car accident when I was 16 due to my own lack of awareness and lost my car.

Christopher H  on 3/26/2022 12:01:43 AM

As an engineering student, school is going to be a high cost for me. I saw this scholarship and decided that it could benefit from a new perspective - that of a product-oriented individual. So, I created a software development proposal for an AI system that I will not outline here. While not perhaps the most "artistic" of entries, it provides a new, unique, actionable, and scalable solution to a problem practically built to generate data. A little dry perhaps, but professional and polished. So now, I guess we see whether that means anything in the judges' eyes.

Savannah R  on 2/17/2022 9:22:47 AM

I am applying for this scholarship because I feel that as young adults, it is our responsibility to create a better environment for ourselves as well as our community. I have personally experienced and witnessed reckless driving. This situation is truly heartbreaking. It is appalling to see how inconsiderate these careless drivers can be. So many innocent lives have been taken. I am more than willing to raise awareness and help put an end to this.

Justin M  on 1/5/2022 1:29:49 PM

The reason I wanted to apply for this scholarship is because just yesterday, my foster sister sister was in a life altering car crash. Being ejected from the car, she had severe damage to her spinal column and will never walk again. It is so important for us as young adults to understand the severity of reckless driving. If we can make the change that will save countless generations from severe heartache and loss. I for one want to be able to save lives instead of taking them and the solution is easy. By simply not texting while driving or letting someone in a better state of mind take you home, who knows how many lives will be saved. This change will not come by one person though. We must unite as a community and all do our part. I know it sounds cliche, but it's the truth. It’s extremely important for people to know that driving recklessly is not “cool” or “fun”. People who tend to get distracted and drive crazy are selfish. They are selfish because they’re willing to put other people’s lives in danger. So I for once would love to spread out this important message to others.

Jenna P  on 12/16/2021 12:04:48 PM

I am applying for this scholarship because, as a teen driver I am pretty scared. I trust myself as a driver because I put in the time to practice and make sure that I know what I am doing and how to react in certain situations. In my opinion, the number one killer for teens is texting and driving. There are countless times that I am driving and will see teens on their phones at a light or WHILE they are driving. To me that is insane, if a text is so important then stop driving or even call them, that is less distracting. No one should lose their life from someone texting and driving. To me, that's pretty insane.

Leah G  on 12/3/2021 9:15:23 PM

I am applying for this scholarship because I want to make a genuine difference within the driving community. I have personally witnessed far too many acts of dangerous behaviors that could cause severe injuries and death. I became even more of an advocate for safe driving after my brother was distracted for only a split second and hit a man jaywalking across the street, fatally injuring the man. Not only that but the PTSD that my brother now experiences is something that I would never want anyone else to undergo.

Miguel HH  on 11/18/2021 10:02:42 AM

I will apply for this schoalrship because of deppression. many young people end up commeting suicide which is series issues in the u.s . It has become more previlant over the years and action has to be put in. too many lives have been lost dues to this horrifying mental illness. Together we can stop this and put effort to make it happen. our endevour of work will be for not.

Ahja S  on 11/15/2021 4:03:25 AM

I have decided to pick this scholarship because I believe it is a topic that is not talked about often. However, we see it happening all around us. This cause deserves more attention to make an impact on some teens to choose to be more responsible while driving. If you do not have a permit or are under the influence you should not be behind a wheel. If you take it upon yourself to do something reckless, others including yourself can lose their lives due to your actions. I encourage others to dive safely.

Oramma O.  on 2/14/2021 3:29:46 PM

I applied for the scholarship because it has been proven that 98% of car crashes or "accidents", had been caused by distracted drivers, and this often happens when we think we can multitask while driving. The brain doesn't show us how much we a distracted from the road when we multitask while driving, and most crashes are caused by over confident multitaskers. There needs to be a rule stating that all phones in the car should be out of reach from the driver while the car is in motion, so that people don't get so distracted and mistakenly take the lives of others or themselves.

sydney m  on 2/8/2021 10:44:21 AM

I will apply for this scholarship because driving recklessly is a dangerous game caused by simply not thinking through your actions, drinking, and vaping are all causes of reckless driving. Too many people have lost their lives due to this activity and we need to raise awareness and put a stop to it.

Jayla M  on 2/2/2021 4:59:53 PM

I am applying to this scholarship because our voices need to be heard as we move on with our lives to make a better environment for the people in our communities. I personally feel as though if we younger people speak out about how dangerous reckless driving is then people will actually begin to listen. This situation is a very big deal, especially in the United States, and we need to speak out first before we can even speak out.

Surry F  on 1/31/2021 11:52:16 AM

Victoria R  on 1/25/2021 12:40:36 PM

I applied for this scholarship as a teen driver who is often horrified by the lack of concern teens have while driving. It was also great as a design student to create a poster.

Miranda H  on 1/14/2021 10:27:15 AM

I am applying for this scholarship because I feel it is a very important topic to cover. My mother was in a car accident when she was 16 and it not only affected her life, but it has also affected my family. Paying for her treatments has made money very tight my whole life, so this scholarship would be a great way to pay for college and share an important message with young people.

Alina A.  on 1/10/2021 12:51:51 PM

I will apply for this scholarship as my mother was hit by a reckless, drunk driver when she was younger. Therefore this topic is very close to my heart. With this assistance of this scholarship I can not only get assistance in paying for college, but I can educate on the subject’s seriousness. I truly appreciate this scholarship for those reasons and look forward to the judges decision.

Nick K  on 12/29/2020 1:05:19 AM

I will apply for the scholarship. I have lost two cousins to car accidents at a very young age and my brothers friend who has brain and spinal injury due to her being distracted while she was driving. It is very important to educate young drivers about the dangers of driving with distractions

Madison M  on 11/19/2020 2:36:52 PM

I am going to apply for this scholarship because It is an important topic. With this scholarship I can pay for college. My family does not have the money for college for me out of 3 kids. One of my really close family friends died in a car accident. I would like to apply so I can put the importance it is into kids heads of how hurtful it is to loose a loved one. Thank you for the opportunity of this scholarship.

I see distracted driving as a hige problem in every part of the world , due to the fact it causes a lot of kills no matter if it’s a young or an older person . In this essay I will try to make some solution for this huge problem . First of all , Negligence, due to the fact a lot of people drive when they are drunk it seems they don’t realize how much they can hurt other people driving drunk , for this problem I propose more sanctions and fines for these people who causes accidents . Secondly , A lot of teens don’t even know how to drive and when they don’t learn it , it can causes too much damage not only for themselves but also for people who is find in their way , for this problem I propose Driving courses for teenager to prevent accidents and for be safe . To conclude , with a lot of effort from every society we can prevent distracted driving and have a safer world with not too many accidents .

“What sets you apart can sometimes feel like a burden and it's not. A lot of the time, it's what makes you great” by Emma Stone. My name is Jasmine Rob, although I do not consider myself or my life as enthralling or as riveting as others I can pompously say that my enormous heartalong with my compassion , my pain , and my goals are what makes me who I am . Firstly, one characteristic of mine, I would without a doubt consider a talent or even an interest would be that I am immensely good at seeing past anyand all of the unfavorable characteristics in people. I along with others &nd that very unique. The majority of people I come into contact with seem to express that this speci&c trait is rather hard to exhibit; mostly because a great deal of people do not know how to forgive but not forget. Not knowing how to do these things will forever make it laborious to see past the inadequate traits of some people or should I say nearly but not all. Secondly, as I mentioned, being able to forgive however not forget can be vastly di-cult .Sometimes I’m not always able to greatly perform this trait when it involves my father. When actually being able to forgive someone pertains to him it becomes extremely hard to even attempt. In fact, my father not being around sometimes overwhelms me. It's like a daily reminder that I must succeed; so I can one day be able to say “I did it without you.” The pain in/icted upon me by my father is the kind of motivation and the kind of thrive most people seek for in life. I remind myself daily I have to make it, I will make it, and I am going to make it. I refuse to be just another statistic in the world. Lastly, my pain and my enormous heart have led me to make so many goals for myself. One of my major goals is I will without a doubt &ght to achieve is being a social worker. Many people &nd social workers as people who just break up families but to me. A social worker is being that hero a kid apprehensively waits on.

Recently my foster sister's sister was paralyzed and blinded because of a car wreck. The driver wasn't paying attention and in barely a moment all of their lives changed. It is important that we take a stand and drive safely to not only save our lives but the lives of others.

Ezekiel Turner  on 10/25/2020 5:35:41 PM

I'm a student at DePaul University looking to get their driver's license, so this essay is of significant importance to me.

I'm attending to apply for the grant since it's the slightest I can do for my guardians. My guardians are not from this nation they've work so difficult to induce us where we are at. We have a roof over our head since of the unending hours of work that my guardians put in. I need to graduate from college with that excellent degree in my hand telling my father that I did it. I need him to know that all his difficult work and give up has paid off. I need to create them pleased and there nation glad. I need them to know that he raised me well. I'm doing this for something greater than me. Since the day I purchase my guardians a house is the day I can say that I did it. My work to them is to be a fruitful men.

With this scholarship and the need-based grants I have been awarded, I can complete my education and continue to solve problems within my community. The #1 killer among us young people is in fact this "driving" crisis! As young people we sometimes aren't led the right way, but this isn't about being led the right way, but being the greater impact of this generation. We must change if we want "CHANGE"! I myself, am not scared to make a change when i see fit, whether that's making social media group chats to speaking on the news to traveling and speaking about how we can make a change vs just "trying to make a change. We speak so highly on changing but never take a stand and actually put forth the effort to make this impact happen. Thanks for the opportunity.

I for one have experienced loss due to reckless driving. My uncle lost his life in a car accident, he was drinking and driving and it was felt through our entire family. I push for anyone I am in the vehicle with to put their phone down and to just focus on the road, "I can do the texting for you." I drive for Domino's Pizza and every single day I see so many young people on their phones and driving and I have almost been run off the road due to it, it is NOT okay to just shoot a quick text, please pay attention.

Kaylee Y  on 8/6/2020 12:27:28 AM

sounds cool!

Kaylee S  on 3/11/2020 8:40:48 AM

I would love to help be apart of a community that is trying to get rid of reckless driving. My mother has a friend that lost her daughter in a car accident, a semi was not paying any attention to the road and ran a red light. He hit the girls car, and their car flipped. My mothers friends daughter passed away, and the whole community was very devastated for their loss. It is not hard to pay attention to the road, you have not only your safety to worry about, but you also have to worry about other people's safety as well. This is why nobody should ever text and drive, or drink and drive. If you do this, you could hurt someone very badly & that would devastate their loved ones. We need to think before we get behind the wheel!
