• Scholarship Description
• Dr. Omega Logan Silva served the healthcare community with honor and distinction. Throughout her career, she was a dynamic leader, the first female president of the Howard University Medical Alumni Association and president of the American Medical Women’s Association. In honor of Dr. Silva’s commitment, passion, and support of economically disadvantaged women interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, The Healthcare Council created the scholarship to continue her legacy. The scholarship is available to economically disadvantaged women interested in pursuing a career in healthcare.

  Applicants must: be a candidate for graduation from an accredited high school, student already pursuing a degree in higher education, vocational or graduate school; Be planning to attend or already attending a post-secondary institution which can include vocational training from an accredited institution; Write a brief essay of 250 to 500 words on how a degree in healthcare will make a difference in your life; Demonstrate solid academic achievement; Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA at an accredited institution/maintain satisfactory performance at vocational school; Fit category of economically disadvantaged woman; and Demonstrate significant involvement in school and community activities.
