Scholarship Details
- Single award: $10,000 per year for two years
- Second-year disbursement: Contingent on the successful completion of the first year
- Mentorship opportunity: Recipients have the opportunity for mentoring by a committee of Walter A. Hunt's colleagues
Eligibility
- Current New York City public high school seniors accepted to a 5-year Bachelor of Architecture program
- Students at NYC Charter High Schools are eligible
- Students at private, parochial, or other schools with tuition are not eligible
- Submission of a digital copy of the final high school transcript is required
Application Materials
Essay (not exceeding 500 words): Why are you interested in studying architecture? Consider including your favorite building in New York City, a specific life experience that sparked your architectural interest, how you see yourself impacting your community as an architect, or your vision for impacting the environment.
Portfolio: Submit 3-4 pieces of your visual art, design, or architecture work. Include finished and/or in-process projects. Indicate your role in group projects.
High School Transcript: Provide the most recent high school transcript. Final graduation transcript is required to accept the award.
College Acceptance Letter: Proof of acceptance to a five-year Bachelor of Architecture program at a NAAB-accredited school.
Two Letters of Recommendation: One from a high school teacher. The second from an employer, person in the field of architecture, or another adult. Letters must be signed and on letterhead
