Ayn Rand (1905 – 1982) was a novelist and philosopher. She is best known for her novels Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead, and for the revolutionary philosophy she originated, Objectivism. Ayn Rand’s philosophy for living on earth has changed the lives of millions and continues to influence American culture and politics. The Ayn Rand Institute is dedicated to advancing her principles of reason, rational self-interest and laissez-faire capitalism.
Students who have read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand are eligible to enter a writing contest, covering a variety of topics from this novel (see rules on website). Open to high school seniors and above. No application is required, and this is open to students worldwide. Winners will be announced by January.
