Since 1992, IHLAEF has provided scholarship assistance to deserving Illinois students who are pursuing hospitality management degrees from accredited colleges and universities in Illinois or throughout the country, awarding over $650,000 since its inception. Scholarship awards begin at $1,000 per academic year with applications accepted in the spring, and awarded for the start of fall classes.
Eligibility
- Permanent resident of Illinois
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Current undergraduate student enrolled full-time or a high school senior enrolling in an accredited college or university in the coming fall
- Majoring or planning to major in hotel and/or hospitality
Application Requirements
In addition to completing the application, you must also submit: a list of extracurricular activities and accomplishments within the past two years (such as school, community, and charitable activities); a recent transcript (for high school applicants, the most recent high school or GED transcript including GPA); a recommendation letter from an education professional, current or former employer or industry professional; and a typed essay outlining your career goals in the hotel and/or hospitality industry.
