Scholarship Description

The University of Iowa offers the Advantage Iowa Award to incoming first-year students who are not residents of Iowa. Applicants must be students that are from historically underrepresented populations (Alaskan Native, American Indian/ Native American, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, two or more underrepresented races) at the University of Iowa or participation in a federally funded Upward Bound program. Merit is also a criteria. Winners must maintain a 2.0 minimum GPA and enroll as a full-time student.

All admitted first-year students entering the University of Iowa in the upcoming fall with or without an ACT or SAT score on file will be considered for merit scholarships awarded by the Office of Admissions. Scholarship awarding decisions for students who do not provide test scores will be made following a review of a student's credentials. Students who are able to take the SAT or ACT after application or admission are encouraged to self-report or send official test scores prior to April 1 to be considered for additional scholarship opportunities. Subsequent receipt of test scores will never negatively impact a previous admission or scholarship decision.
