  • USTA Northern California Diversity and Inclusion Committee offers four annual scholarships to support the Level One strategic priority of Diversity with a Multicultural focus. Our four annual scholarships to support and encourage multicultural participation among high school students entering college. A $2000/year scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior player entering college and who best demonstrates the values and qualities embodied by the scholarship’s namesake. Recipients are eligible for up to four consecutive years, depending upon his/her enrollment status at either a two or four year accredited institution. Recipients must be compliant to acceptable grade and course load requirements as defined by the USTA Northern California Diversity Committee and Awards Committees is mandatory. Scholarship recipients are also obligated to perform 10 hours of tennis volunteer work during each academic year. For more information or to apply, please visit the scholarship provider's website.

Amazon Offers $40K Future Engineer Scholarships

E-tail giant Amazon is now accepting applications to its Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship Program for students entering college in the fall of 2020. NC Senator Proposes Taxing of Athletic Scholarships

In response to the NCAA's vote to allow athletes to profit from their names, images and likeness, Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina has proposed taxing those scholarships. Senator Burr tweeted: "If college athletes are going to make money off their likenesses while in school, their scholarships should be treated like income. I'll be introducing legislation that subjects scholarships given to athletes who choose to 'cash in' to income taxes." [...]

Gucci Gaffe Results in Green for Grads

Gucci is releasing a new line of... diversity undergraduate scholarships for students who are "traditionally underrepresented in the fashion industry." The 1.5 million U.S. university college scholarship program is set to run for four years, targeting students who attend four-year universities.
