As a Hispanic child of immigrants, I believe that I should get this scholarship because I promised to my grandmother, who passed away back in 2016, that I would be a doctor and start helping her and others. Even since I was a little girl, I always helped others. I genuinely like helping others in need, not because of money, not to earn something out of it-it makes me happy. I remember that I would always visit my parent's home country, the Dominican Republic, and we would always go to the poorest neighborhoods to give away food, clothing, toys, and many other items.Seeing the smiles on their faces just made my heart warm and jumpy. I will forever and always give away to others in need. Not for money, not for fame, but out of love. Becoming a doctor will make me feel great because I will have finally achieved my dream, but also have kept my promise to my grandmother.

This scholarship will help me so much while I am trying to achieve my degree at The University of Alabama. Studying in the science field has always been a dream of mine since I was a little child and now I am so close to achieving that dream. As a afro-indigenous girl I did not have it easy growing up. I felt as if I did not really fit in anywhere. I did not really know my purpose in live until I felt in love with the field of science.

Nayelis E  on 2/9/2021 1:38:51 PM

I am applying for this scholarship because I come from a low income family, and my minimum wage job wont cover all of the expenses, especially during times like this. I don't want to be deep into dept and would take anything that helps.

As a latino student I am determined to succeed at my academic best to achieve the success I know I deserve. It is hard sometimes understanding the discrimination in this world, but I believe we are all equal and deserve the best for each and every one of us. For the upcoming academic year, funding will be harder. My parents both lost their jobs when covid happened. I work full time and am a full-time student. I pay all the bills on my own and try to keep going everyday with a positive attitude. I work hard and study hard. My GPA for last semester was a 3.5 and I plan on maintaining that. Life is not easy but it is doable with a positive mindset. I will be paying for my tuition next academic year with no help. Paying everything on my own is very hard and makes me live paycheck to paycheck. If anything went wrong with my car I have no money to pay for it, therefore have no transportation. I try to save money but it goes to tuition, books and bills. I will look at my next academic year as a positive and try my best to continue working hard for what I believe in!

I have always been dedicated to my studies and strived for excellence in school and outside of school as well with my multiple community service activities. My family is from Puerto Rico and I will be first generation going to college to ultimately pursue my dream of becoming a physician. Unfortunately despite maintaining a 4.0 GPA ,finances are a limiting factor in the Universities I can attend. I am hoping that a scholarship will open the options attainable for me and help me achieve my dreams .

Obtaining high school education is a great achievement although at times I felt like giving up as the journey was at times hard but I persisted. The world is constantly changing and as a result of the competitiveness of our society my drive to be pushed to complete my education to be able to advance as our economy grows. Acquiring this scholarship will help me tremendously as a minority student. Not only will it help me but it will alleviate some of the financial burden my mother is facing and will face during my college years. With the constant push from my mother wanting me to be successful in life I am more than happy to start this journey and can't wait to see the joy on my mother and other family faces on graduation day. As such any financial gratuity will be well appreciated and received.

Zavier H  on 1/22/2021 3:50:07 PM

I applied for this scholarship because as my senior year ends, I find it harder and harder to find minority scholarships;)

Angel H  on 1/20/2021 6:40:54 AM

I am the first son in my family to get excepted into University NYU. This money will help for my finances. Even with all the grants and financial aid I am still short. I have applied for many different scholarships in the hopes that I will not have to take out to big of a loan. My mother works very hard as an essential worker in the ER dept and I want to make finances easier for her while I am away at school.

Cithaly Rodas  on 1/5/2021 6:17:31 PM

Scholarships help provide financial freedoms for students to follow their academic goals which in turn would provide more opportunities to less privileged students. This is exactly how scholarships would help me. My dream has always been to work in the medical field helping people. I have been a CNA for the past 5 years and I love the ability to make a difference in people's lives. With the assistance of donors and their scholarships I could focus more on my schooling and take my career further in the medical field with a nursing degree, allowing me to help more people at all stages of care.

Nathaniel W  on 1/4/2021 7:20:02 PM

Your scholarship will help me inspire others. My father is of the Boarding School generation, a kind description of Culture reeducation. My Mother and Father made the best outcome of the situation they both were put in. I want to honor both my parents and all the young Native Americans that had to be re-educated. I want to be the example, I am Dine, I am American, I am a Marine. I Love the Creator and all the Creator's creation. I appreciate this opportunity that you have given me to express myself, Ahh-Hee-Hyat

Samuel Oduwole  on 12/16/2020 12:13:33 PM

This scholarship will help me achieve my educational and career goals. I have been working hard by doing every little thing I can in order to save up for college, but the extortionate cost of my tuition hasn't been enough. I am planning to work during my undergraduate degree, but I do wish to focus a lot of time on my studies. It is a long way to realize my dream, and it certainly will be another long way to go actualize it. I was always anxious that the family’s budget would cause me some difficulties in pursuing my dreams which makes the scholarship more significant to me. If I am given the scholarship, I can focus and further my education without having to worry about my family's financial problems, and more importantly, I will be able to stand a chance which is to take a step closer to success.

Elias L.  on 12/9/2020 8:22:06 PM

I am eager to study in the field of science and to pursue my Cross Country and Track opportunity at Thomas University. They are willing to give me an athletic scholarship yet it won't cover the entire cost, and i want to be in little to no debt as possible.

Tanaja Harrison  on 12/4/2020 12:53:05 AM

I'm excited to complete my degree. I always dreamed of walking college hallways staying up all night writting papers. Although this has been an amazing experience not has been a bit rough as a mother and wife. Jobs have been cut kids are not at home and funds seem to be lower than ever. This financial assistance will really help me in so many ways. Books schools supplies gas and food for the semesters. Thank you for your time
