Scholarship Description

The Worthington Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships to graduates of partnered Maine public high schools who plan to attend a participating Maine college or university. Scholarships are based on financial need and academic merit, ensuring a broad representation of partner high schools and consideration of academic interests and life experiences. Scholarship awards can total up to $20,000, with up to $2,500 per semester for four-year colleges and up to $1,500 per semester for community colleges, with the option to transfer to a four-year institution.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a Maine resident
  • Must be a graduating senior from a partnered Maine public high school
  • Must plan to enroll full-time at a partnered two-year or four-year college in Maine
  • Minimum GPA of C- for community college applicants
  • Minimum GPA of B- for four-year college applicants
  • SAI (Student Aid Index) of 30,000 or less as determined by the FAFSA

Application Process

  1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  2. Ensure your SAI is 30,000 or less
  3. Apply and be accepted to a partnered Maine two- or four-year college
  4. Complete the Worthington Scholarship application through the online portal
  5. Submit your high school transcript and other required materials
  6. Receive notification of your award at your high school’s awards night or graduation ceremony
  7. Meet semester-by-semester requirements to renew the scholarship
