Scholarship Description

The Elaine Chapin Fund awards several scholarships of up to $1,000 each year to students whose lives have been affected by multiple sclerosis. The program recognizes both the financial and emotional challenges MS can bring and seeks to support students pursuing higher education. Recipients are selected based on financial need, academic performance, and personal impact of MS, with preference given to those within 300 miles of St. Louis.

Scholarship Details

  • Scholarships of up to $1,000 each for the academic year

  • Proof of registration and residency is required before funds are distributed
  • No application fee; optional donations are appreciated but not required

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must reside within a 300-mile radius of St. Louis
  • Must be enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited college, university, vocational, or technical school in the U.S.
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester
  • Must demonstrate financial need and the impact of MS on their life

Application Process

  1. Download the application form from the scholarship website
  2. Complete the application and write a personal essay (max 500 words) about how MS has affected your life
  3. Request two letters of reference
  4. Submit an official transcript of your most recent academic grades
  5. Mail the completed application, essay, transcript, and letters of reference by April 30 to the address listed on the application
