To be eligible for the Next Swell Scholarship, applicants must: be a citizen of the United States of America or a legal permanent resident; be either an enrolled undergraduate student starting their senior year, or be pursuing a graduate degree (undergraduate seniors must be majoring in a marine science field at the time of application submission; all graduate-student applicants must be able to provide proof of graduate school admission in a marine science field upon receipt of award); and all undergraduates must have a 3.0 GPA, while all graduate applicants must have a 3.5 GPA.
The Next Swell was created in part for the purpose of providing financial academic scholarships to exceptional undergraduate and graduate students pursuing research and/or a degree in a marine science or marine conservation focused area. Scholarships are merit-based and will be awarded to the most qualified applicants who display a passion for marine conservation. All scholarship funds must be used for tuition, fees, or course books and supplies that are required for enrollment at your educational institution.
