Scholarship Description

This grant, which was first awarded in 2007, is intended to continue the Idaho Chapter's legacy of fostering the development of fish and aquatic professionals and is awarded annually to high school and college students enrolled at any school in Idaho.

Grant Details

  • Grant Amount: $50 to $1,000
  • Supports activities such as research, education projects, or attending professional conferences, workshops, or training
  • Funded by the Idaho Chapter of the American Fisheries Society
  • Annual total grant funding is capped at $1,000, with awards distributed on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to high school and college students enrolled at any Idaho school or involved with the Idaho Chapter, including student sub-units
  • Projects required for a degree are not eligible
  • Proposed activities must align with the mission of the American Fisheries Society

Selection Criteria

  • Preference given to students involved with the Idaho Chapter or its student sub-units
  • Evaluation based on how the proposed activity:
    • Supports the mission of the American Fisheries Society
    • Enhances the applicant's professional development or benefits aquatic resources in Idaho

Application Process

  1. Complete and submit the application form available at the scholarship website
  2. Obtain a copy of your school transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable) and email them to [email protected]
  3. Identify a biology professor, faculty advisor, school administrator, or supervisor to complete your recommendation form. The form is available at the scholarship website
  4. Submit your application as early as possible, as applications are reviewed on a rolling basis

Notification and Recognition

  • Grant recipients are notified directly upon selection
  • Recipients will be recognized during the business luncheon at the annual meeting of the Idaho Chapter of the American Fisheries Society

Any student enrolled in any Idaho school or involved with the Idaho Chapter, including the student sub-units is eligible to apply for this grant. We encourage you to apply today.
