The purpose of the Stephen Rice Memorial Fund is to provide an annual scholarship to a young Gay, Lesbian, Transgender, Bi, and/or Queer student pursuing a degree in Radio/Television/Film or Journalism. Our fundraising goal is between $50,000 and $75,000, which will enable the fund to be primarily self-sustaining and provide an annual scholarship of $2,500. The Stephen Rice Memorial Fund is open to graduating high school seniors and students currently enrolled or accepted at any college or university.
Scholarship monies will be paid directly to the educational institution in the student’s name. Student applicants must demonstrate participation in radio, television, journalism, public relations, broadcasting, electronic media or film activity; self-identify as Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Transgender or Queer; be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident; and a 2.25 or higher Grade Point Average.
