Hi, I really want to apply for this Scholarship, I am graduate of Food and Beverage Operations and would like to continue my studies as a chef. Two questions please. Today's date of Feb, 4th, 2022. Am I late or can I still apply? Also, I am African, Namibian to be exact, am I eligible or is it only for others except Africans? Kindly assist me, thank you.

I am applying for this scholarship because I can’t afford to pay the amount asked to further my education in culinary arts. I love to cook and I’m always experimenting with my foods. I get so excited when I discover a new flip to the same old basic recipe. I want to go further. I have the skills and the knowledge to do what I can do now, but I want more. I want to be a chef. I love cooking and I love to experiment. I would love to learn what I don’t know. I am a single mother with an adopted daughter. She’s six, and she loves to cook with me. She doesn’t like the clean up though. I have taken my dream of cooking and baking, and turned it into my passion. I will reach my goal.

This scholarship is a great opportunity to get money to support your dreams!

Chad T  on 1/11/2021 12:19:40 PM

I am in desperate need of financial support as I attend Stratford University for an associate degree in the culinary/pastry arts program. My passion for baking and cake decorating started in the least likely of places. Grocery store. I've now been in the retail bakery business for over 10 years now at such places as Kroger, Walmart, and Publix. My story has come with many hardships and challenges. I have had to overcome many things that has led me to this place in my life. School is the next step in my recovery, to learn everything I can about my passion, and to succeed in a future bakery business.

I have a basket full of memories related to the smells and taste of my childhood. Now that have to compose myself to write this, I remember the my childhood and life experience has been a bit rough for me. I have struggled to make and find anything I could consider my passion, something to properly drive my emotions and energy into. Yet, I have been cooking and baking throughout the entire storm. From the age of six, I made curry scrambled eggs for my family. My mother had a look of surprise in her face. I had to become self sufficient at an early age, though I never saw a problem. Until it came to money, at 14 I was tired of asking my father for funds to spend time with my friends. I got my first job at a sports bar. In the kitchen it was a diverse set of line cooks, each person taking their own personal fancy to certain items they put through the window. I would see the rage and at times hostility that brewed on the line. For whatever reason I was attracted to it. Though I kept my distance for a while due to subconsciously fearing the heat, I worked my way up in multiple restaurants from bus boy to server. I worked positions at an organic pizza restaurant, giving me a little freedom to create at work. Making odd but classic taste for the pizza menu. My first time with a rotating coal oven. Afterwards , I came back to the sports bar. Now I stepped on the line and got my feet wet cooking at high volume. I then began cooking at a more high end American chain of restaurants. Putting more quality dishes through the window. I changed locations and began working at a plant based ice cream concept store. I hadn't thought of gourmet sweets as its own lane until this location. From there I moved to my most recent location. Dukunoo Jamaican Kitchen. I am of Jamaican decent, so this was the greatest home feeling. I stepped on the line here, and within a week, I became head chef. Serving my dishes for the vibrant characters of the city of Miami. Due to covid, I have not been i

Good evening to whom this may concern, I am applying for this scholarship because I believe food is one of the ways to a person's heart. When preparing food, I believe thatit should be prepared with love and care. That the chef should appreciate the harmony of each and every flavor when combined. Becoming a chef is an opportunity for me to share with everyone, and not just my family. My dream is cook with so much love that it brings families together, starts conversations that people were too afraid to start, and fill those who are hungry. Food is meant to be fellowshipped over. I love cooking so much that I volunteered to feed the hungry this summer. I even volunteered to help serve people at my church during church events. My goal is to continue feeding those who desire a good meal. Thank you for your time.

Alexis B.  on 8/30/2020 5:32:31 PM

I didn't really know what I wanted to major once I got into high school, but once I got into the Culinary program at my local career center I feel in love with it. I never thought I would enjoy cooking as much as I do now. I am a senior in high school, but I am taking college credits. Once I graduate from high school I will be attending Spartanburg Community College for my first two years and then once I get my degree from there I plan on attending Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte, NC. This scholarship would really help me and my parent out with the finances. In the future, I plan to open up my own business. I still don't know if I want to do soul food or be a pastry chef. Thank you!

The arts of cooking has always been my dream since I was a child.Ever since my uncle pass I have been pushing hard to make my dreams come true. I want to have a business in culinary arts.

Gabrielle W  on 7/24/2020 9:58:58 AM

Throughout high school I have struggled with what I wanted to do as a profession. I worked hard in school but i never knew what I was working so hard for. I've always had a love for cooking but I was afraid of not making it or at least not making enough to have the life I wanted. Up until this point I've been considering criminal law as a career choice all because I was afraid , but I new i wouldn't enjoy law as a life long job. One day one of my friends saw me stressing out and asked me,"what's a something you can't live without doing?", I said cooking/baking I love the feeling I get when I make something for someone they smile, it brightens my day and I want that to be my life.

Kiley G  on 7/8/2020 11:03:58 PM

One of the only good memories from my childhood, was food. My mothers cooking to be exact, my mother got hurt when she slipped and fell working in a kitchen, which led to a series of back and neck surgeries. For her cooking and baking was put to a halt, but that is when I picked up cooking and baking. As a mother of 3, any financial help I could get with Culinary School will be more than appreciated. I was accepted into a newer Culinary School for the 2020-2021 season, Les Cheneaux Culinary School in Hessel, Michigan. Located in Michigans Upper Peninsula.

Also, I want people to understand how to control emotional eating or how to still be able to consume food when anxious or in any other type of emotion that affects good eating habits.

Pat langnau  on 12/23/2017 2:19:05 PM

I told my granddaughter Tahlia Linder about this. She has been accepted at Johnson & Wales in Miami where she wants to study the pastry arts. They have offered a scholarship to her but it is not enough. She has a GPA of 4.1, she is biracial and Jewish. She has been very active in her High School band in Pensacola Florida where she plays the trombone and has been a drum major for 2 years. She would be a credit to any school.

I am a Alaskan Native American enrolled to attend the Culinary Institute of American, Greystone campus in California. I am currently volunteering for a local soup kitchen in my home town to satisfy enrollment requirements. I am seriously interested in pursuing this academic goal and return to my home community and serve aquatic foods to my Native community. My grandfather was an Alaskan Native elder and motivated me to pursue college. His response to my questioning about his taste in foods was always countered by, "my next meal". I miss him and his humor and standing in the Native community. Since his death I am more than motivated to obtain and education in the Culinary Arts and return to my Native community to serve others.
