Markala R  on 1/23/2023 10:48:17 AM

Hi, my name is Markala. I'm a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I plan to pursue a career as a traveling nurse. Since I was a little girl, I've always had a passion for helping people, whether they're children or adults. It was always clear to me that nursing was my calling. As a high school student, I took health sciences classes, and at my local community college, I earned my CNA license. Through my work at a nursing home, helping my aunt work for hospice, and taking care of my grandmother before her passing, I gained valuable knowledge of the healthcare field. During my experience as a CNA and taking many courses, I hope to learn more on my journey to become the best nurse to make an impact. This scholarship, I know it will help me further my education, also it will relieve some financial burdens on my family. I hope you will choose to award me with this scholarship. It is an honor to be given this opportunity. Thank you.

I will be a graduating Highschool student in 2023 but my goals and dreams are to become a Pastry Chef. But I need you to make this possible because I want to make my mother proud including myself cooking has always been one of my most deep aspirations to be a young black woman owning her own restaurant or baking company. I love the fact that I get to share some of my creativity inside of the kitchen because I was meant to be there. It is my destiny to make my family proud and most of all God proud my mother being a single parent isn't easy I want to show her how much I appreciate her for being a strong independent black woman and being the inspiration in my life she is truly my confidence. I want a chance to see the world with my most famous dishes thank you for the honor of applying for this scholarship.

Hi! I am currently a sophomore at UNC-Greensboro. I have filled out my FAFSA but I'm unsure how much it will cover and if it will be enough for the upcoming year since the school keeps on increasing everything. If I won the scholarship it would help me from stressing out about where I will get the extra money to pay for next semester. Thank you!

Jalen H  on 7/28/2020 10:38:19 AM

My name is Jalen Hatcher I am a recent Occupational therapy assistant Graduate. My goal is to become the Occupational Therapist but that takes time and money. This Scholarship would help out tremendousy with my upcoming classes. So a little bit about myself is In 2016, I was presented with an incredible intern opportunity at the Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, North Carolina under an Occupational therapist and occupational therapy assistant. Once I entered in that rehab center, I knew for a fact that I made the right choice with this profession. I am a highly skilled, innovative and talented individual, some of my personal qualities and characteristics are that I'm caring and creative. I know for a fact, that I can easily empathize with the patient by using therapeutic use of self. A weakness that I suffer from is that I am too detailed oriented, which can be a negative or a positive thing. I tend to spend too much time on a project, basically a perfectionist but there are a pro and con to everything. My motivation for entering the profession of Occupational Therapy started at the young age of ten years old. In 2008 during the recession, my mother was laid off, and we were forced to move in with my grandmother. Living with her also meant living with my great grandmother and my uncle, who is a speech pathologist. As if the economic hardship wasn't enough, my great-grandmother fell ill that year, after suffering from multiple strokes. As a result, my uncle had to educate her to regain her ability to speak. Watching my uncle sparked my interest in therapy. To help my great-grandmother recover my uncle asked his friend Mr. Smith for assistance. Mr. Smith was a physical therapist who assisted my great grandmother in regaining gross motor skills and strength in her legs. Every time he'd come over I'd stay with them and watch him work. This is when I first found out about home health. By me being curious and just wanting to help my great-grandmother

Khalil B  on 3/9/2020 11:46:20 AM

Hello, my name is Khalil Barfield-Toney. I am a current student here at Elizabeth City State University and I really want to graduate here at ECSU. I never in my life thought that I would or could be eligible for any scholarship because I sincerely believed that could never be qualified for such an award and in the past I previously paid to go to school, which is different from my current college and I know the struggle of trying to maintain top tier grades or even average grades and getting up everyday to go to a low paying job just to make ends meet financially. Since then I've improved but not just as a student but as a young African-American adult and I'm willing to take advantage of the opportunities that I have before me and today this is one of those opportunities.
