Coast Guard Mutual Assistance has a long history of helping the men and women of the United States Coast Guard. Originally established as The League of Coast Guard Women, the organization was to “minister to the general welfare of the commissioned officers, warrant officers, enlisted men and civilian employees of the Coast Guard and their immediate families. During its 95 Years of Service, CGMA has been able to provide over $200,000,000 financial assistance to the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard.
STAFFORD and PLUS loans are offered to all active duty and retired Coast Guard military personnel, Coast Guard Civilian employees, Coast Guard Auxiliarists, Public Health Service Officers serving with the Coast Guard, and their spouses and dependent children. Participating educational institutions include most two-year and four-year colleges and universities, graduate and profession institutions, and many vocation/technical schools. The number of awards given will vary.
