The American Indian College Fund provides scholarships to American Indian and Alaska Native college students seeking undergraduate and graduate degrees at any nonprofit, accredited college, university or tribal college. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or Canadians eligible to attend college in the U.S. under provisions of the Jay Treaty, enrolled in a certificate, associate, bachelor’s, or graduate program at an accredited tribal, public, or private (non-profit) college or university as a full-time student, be registered as an enrolled member of a federal or state recognized tribe, or a descendant of at least one grandparent or parent who is an enrolled tribal member (Alaska Natives may use Native Corporation membership), and have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.

Besides filling out the application, applicants must also submit: a digital photo (a headshot or photograph of themselves); the most recent copy of a transcript; and tribal affiliation (Enrolled members should provide proof of their tribal enrollment (or CIB). Descendants prove descent by providing a copy of their parent/grandparent’s enrollment information and a copy of the student’s birth certificate.). Since its founding in 1989, the American Indian College Fund has been the nation’s largest charity supporting Native student access to higher education.
