ESET North America offers the Women in Cybersecurity Scholarship to help close the gender gap in STEM and cybersecurity. Scholarships will be awarded to graduate/undergraduate women pursuing a career in cybersecurity. In order to be considered, women must be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited college or university within the United States and have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. The graduate/undergraduate program does not have to be a “cybersecurity” program however applicants should aspire to have a career in the cybersecurity industry.
The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Complete applications must have the following documents (PDF) ready to upload: one copy of an unofficial transcript or acceptance letter as proof of enrollment, one letter of recommendation signed by the recommending party, and one personal essay of 500-700 words written in English or Spanish answering the prompt on the application. In its Cybersecurity Workforce Study, (ISC)2 found the field remains predominantly male, with women representing less than a quarter of the workers. While the number of women in the field is technically increasing, there is still a long way to go.
