Melissa H  on 6/14/2022 9:19:30 AM

Hello, My name is Melissa, I am 37 and a single mother to 2 boys 13 and 10. I am in the process of going back to school. I am trying to create a better life for my boys and myself. I teach my boys that no matter what, try your hardest to make a difference in this world. I have been a paraprofessional with Kindergarten for almost 8 years. Through the years, I have learned that it is truly my passion to help children and in hopes to make a difference. Since being in school, I have been discouraged. I have had to take out loans to finish school. This scholarship would help towards the money that I will need to pay back once I have completed my degree. In the end, I will still make a way to better not only my life, but my boys lives as well. It would be nice to graduate college and not have to deal with the stress of many student loans. Melissa

Well, I tried to apply for this scholarship, but the application season is over, for now. I stopped to read some of these comments. Just to see what people were saying. I must say that there is no way I can compete with the stories of survival and perserverance being told by these most amazing women. Just...Wow! The spirit of women is beautiful and resiliant, indeed. Don't stop sisters, never stop. Honestly, if I had applied for this scholarship, I would rather see it go to one of these most deserving women who shared their stories here, in this forum.

Telvis M  on 2/7/2021 9:34:04 PM

Hello, my name is Telvis Molina and I am a mother of five with 2 disabled sons and one daughter. I have a total of 5 kids with my last being only 5 years old. I am a victim of Domestic Violence due that has left me permanently damaged my lower back. I have always been clinically depressed but in the last few years, it has been categorized as major depression. Unable to provide and had a hard time loving myself. As a child, I was physically and mentally abused as well as sexually by my family. I am overcoming the effects of my pts with medication and therapy. I am a Christian as well but believe in a loving God. I am now a freshman and pursuing my career goal to provide for my kids. My academic goal is to get a master's in speech pathology. I have a brother that has a past with cancer, a sister that is in remission, and myself that has had my breasts removed due to cancer risks being too high due to my BracaGene 2.i believe that it is my calling and my purpose to make a difference in other people's lives. I am low income. There's no one to watch my kids. I ask for financial help to pay for the books that I cannot afford. I am grateful for anything. Thank you for applying for this scholarship. I had a job for 3 years which was of being an adult entertainer that changed my view of the uneducated abused dancers that are in the industry. The danger we are in doing that job leads me to seek a profound change in my education level. so that my kids may never have to do what I had to provide. I am determined to educate myself and one day be proud to provide my kids with a rewarding career.

KELLEE J  on 2/7/2021 10:33:54 AM

I think that this is a great cause by identifying older women who want to continue their education. I'm in my 40s with three children but please don't count me out. I would like the same opportunities as everyone else. You might find that the people with the most responsibilities often work the hardest. I currently have a 4.0 while home-schooling 3 children.

ZeQuesha H  on 2/1/2021 9:35:25 AM

Hi my name is ZeQuesha. I am a 41 year old mother of four beautiful girls who is just trying to show my girls that it is never too late to pursue your dreams. I had my first daughter at the age of 15. For a long time I was unsure if I would or could ever go back. I have always had a passion for law and since I was a little girl dreamed of being a lawyer. This scholarship would help me so much to assist in helping that dream come true. Many people count you out when you have children so young. I just want to be a testimony to someone else who may be in the same shoes that I walked in and let them know that we can do ANYTHING if we just put our mind to it. It would mean the world to me to receive this scholarship, and I know I would make everyone proud. I received my high school diploma at the age of 40, and I knew at that very moment my story was not over. Thank you so much for the opportunity!

Anneita S  on 1/16/2021 10:06:49 PM

Greetings! My name is Anneita, I reside in Kansas City Missouri while attending CTU for my Bachelors of Science in Healthcare Management. I am excited about being a March of 2022 graduate, I feel it's paramount to use my degree for the greater good and help our local Veterans until all of our Veterans receive the adequate and proper care they deserve. I am my parents only daughter and I have an elder brother whom is also a Naval Veteran. I have experienced the loss of a brother, cousin and elder due to Covid-19. l have lost my employment as a Non-Certified Medical Assistant as well as reached the end of my funding and have to pay out of pocket. However, I refuse to become discouraged. I want to take my knowledge and degree and help Veterans actually receive the treatments needed from actual therapists, physicians, and specialists instead of pacifying them, cutting corners, and participating in the Veteran Suicide growth rate. In 2018 Veterans ages as young as 18 to 34 had the highest suicide rate stemming from numerous issues such as lack of adequate care, depression, lack of housing just to name a few. I simply want to be a part of a much need solution to a seemingly growing problem. I thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Anneita S.

Hi my name is Candice. I am a 37 year old mother of 4: trying to be a domestic violence survivor. I am a new student at Illinois Media School. Although my focus is on broadcasting and acting, I love that every aspect of media production intrigues me, the more I see. I applied for this scholarship in faith. With hope that I will get help to purchase the necessary equipment and software that I need to excell. I should be able to work/study from home but I have to go to the campus during the Covid 19 pandemic to do coursework. I feel this is my time. I need my children to see me succeed once and for all. I really thank you for your consideration.

Margie S  on 12/26/2020 12:38:47 PM

Thank you for taking the time to consider my application for this scholarship. I have considered this application for scholarship to assist my financial ability to finish my schooling. I am a hard working mom who puts in more that 40hours of week with "mom" duties. Not to mention the 40 hours I put in at my full time job on law enforcement. I am a non-traditional student trying to compete in a younger students field and it is hard. I had to put off my degree many years ago. I even change my career to be a mom raising 3 boys, but now I have the opportunity to change all that. Having the opportunity to finally finish my degree is the best feeling in the world and I am grateful I have the chance to do that. I thank you for your time and consideration of the scholarship.

Shameca R  on 12/17/2020 2:47:30 PM

I applied! I would rather try and not get it than to not try at all! It is worth a shot. Anyone that is nervous or questioning themselves, the worst that anyone could ever do is tell you "No."

Elizabeth H  on 12/17/2020 7:43:50 AM

Thank you for taking the time to review my application for this scholarship. I applied to this scholarship for several reasons. The first, is to ensure that I am able to focus on achieving my bachelors in healthcare admin, without the need to work 40+ hours a week to care for my children. I am a single mom of two teenagers, ages 16 and 14. We have been through some pretty ruff times over the last four years do to an ugly divorce and a car accident that changed my life. I have been working but without advancement we are barely scrapping by. It is very important to me to continue my degree plan and show my kids that no matter what life throws at you, with hard work and dedication, all things are possible. Another reason I applied, is to hopefully avoid accruing more personal debt to pay back. It is important to me to avoid drowning myself in debt that would take away from the benefits of holding a position that pays well. The more I can put into my household bills and my children's future the better off we will all be. The final reason I have applied, is to show my children the benefit of scholarships, the ability to self reflect and know that even through hardship and sorrow there are still people in this world willing to help you achieve greatness, is in my opinion, one of the greatest blessing of being human. One of the hardest lessons in life is learning to ask for help when you need it the most. I believe, this is due to pride. I mean who wants to tell someone, they do not know, that the are struggling but willing to do something to change it, and can with a little help and assistance? I am hoping and praying that by being forthcoming, and divulging that my life is not perfect, that the granters of this scholarship will see I am an avid believer in changing and bettering a situation. After all, we are the only ones that can control our own individual futures, and in doing so change the world! Thank you again, Elizabeth Hansen

Jeana W  on 12/16/2020 8:02:16 PM

I am wanting to further my career. I have been in the health care for 25 years. In the past 5 years I have been in 3 car accidents which none was my fault. The wrecks have messed my body up and not sure how much longer I can do my job. I live the medical field with all my heart. My goal is now is to get into the buisness part of it. I applied for financial aide and was turned down. My pay checks are very slim and I really need to further my education to get a better paying job to help with my grandchildren. Now a days it takes every penny you can rake and scape just to get by. Thank you for this opportunity

Brittany S  on 12/13/2020 9:49:10 PM

Hi, I saw this as a possible scholarship. I am a 35 year old woman trying to finally become a nurse. I have been a wife and mom since I was 20. My dream since I was a young girl was to be a nurse but I chose to work from home so that I could be present with my children but they are getting older and the cost of living in California has really motivated me to get back to my education and start on my career. I began taking courses during the winter intercession of this year and have taken courses each term on top of working and homeschooling. I have managed to maintain a 4.0 GPA. I want to continue my education and become a nurse as soon as I can. Financially it is a struggle, especially with Covid. A scholarship would help me and my family so much. Thank you for your consideration!

Trisa B  on 12/9/2020 5:15:13 PM

This scholarship would be a great help. I am at the end of my financial aid and I am seeking my bachelor degree. I am 43 years old, a wife and mother to three teenage girls. I have been working in the early childhood field for 14+ years and I enjoy it very much. I want to pursue my degree and other assistant to those in the early childhood field. I believe I have what it takes to be a leader and have gained knowledge to work with children from all walks of life.

Gwendolyn C  on 12/7/2020 12:02:30 PM

I am greatful for opportunities like this. This scholarship would definitely be a great asset to help me obtain my diploma in Construction Management. My goal is to become a General Contractor and build low-income affordable housing in the same community I reside in. I know that with this scholarship I can continue my education and move forward with meeting my goals and helping those in need.

Melinda B  on 12/2/2020 3:35:27 PM

I am a 43 year old widow and solo mother. I want to enter the HVAC field because I am technical, detail oriented, and mechanical. The HVAC field is a growing profession which provides numerous employment options, on the job training, and consistent innovation. This scholarship would help pay for my first semester of classes that begin in January 2021.

Julia C.  on 12/1/2020 7:22:26 PM

My name is Julia, and I am a single mother of two. We live in Atlanta, Ga., and are on the verge of eviction. I had a job with a small law firm, but after Covid, the office decided to move everyone online, and my job at the front desk was one of the first to go. I have used all of our savings to maintain over the past year. However, we have run out of money. I decided to go back to college and major in legal studies. I want to assist women and men like me when I needed legal help dealing with a slum-lord no one wanted to help. I have congestive heart failure, which puts me in a high-risk category for Covid-19. Some days I am scared out of my mind, and sometimes, I can't sleep at night. I feel horrible for having to keep my son home for his first year of High-School because of the risks that I have. I know requests inundate your program. However, if you have additional funds, we would appreciate the assistance. Currently, I have a 4.0 GPA, and I expect to graduate next summer. Thank you for everything you are doing to help so many people like us. Julia C

Amanda H  on 12/1/2020 1:44:54 PM

I am a 39 years old. Four years ago I found myself a widow of suicide with 8 children to care for after 16 years as a domestic engineer aka housewife. I have obtained my Associates in May 2020. I am currently working towards my BBA in Business to show myself, my kids and those around me that our situations in life do not need to define us. That we can rise above our circumstances and make our lives better.

Melaney H  on 11/23/2020 1:07:58 PM

I would be fortunate to receive this scholarship i am 41 years old a mother of 4, single parent who is starting on my career after raising my children to the age where they are independent and can focus and give school my undivided attention to obtain my AA in Bus and on to my MA to help my family blossom and growth.

I feel this scholarship is of form of good character.

Carlisa R  on 11/4/2020 12:33:58 PM

I applied for the Jeannette Rankin Women's Scholarship Fund to help me further my education. Unfortunately, I have been recently advised that my financial aid and student loans have been exhausted six months after returning to complete my Bachelor's degree in Correctional Program Support Services. My goal is to open a home care agency that will extend services to the older and sickly inmate population, who upon release can receive homecare services. I am 48 years old and have been working with the elderly population for almost 10 years. My goal would very beneficial because I have developed a personal insight of the needs that many seniors require. My experience and education that I am striving to complete will help me to reach my goal with the assistance of your scholarship program. Thank you for your consideration.

Stephanie v  on 11/2/2020 10:31:49 AM

Nothing would make me happier than receiving this scholarship. I'm 38 and a separated mom to 6 kids. i was a teen mom that had little choice but to drop out of high school. finally in 2004 i obtained my GED. For years ive been wanting to further myself and what i know im capable of. i want to show my children that regardless of how tough life can be, anything is possible. my personal life has been anything but easy, i push myself daily to rise above the statistics and show not only my children but myself that i can do anything. this would be a dream from me. after receiving my certificate i plan to push on into my bachelors in science. receiving this scholarship would get me through my first semester until my financial aid begins. i hope im lucky enough to be considered. thank you!

Tammie S  on 10/30/2020 2:31:04 PM

I am applying to give myself the opportunity to go to college and receive a degree in religious studies. I’m a single mom of 2 autistic sons, and found myself in an abusive marriage. This is my chance to find a renewed purpose in my life. I am also disabled but it doesn’t define who I am. I had a career as a phlebotomist but I had to give that up when I was diagnosed with a rare and progressive spinal cord disease. Through all this I learned that with God all things ARE possible. I was even homeless at one point in my life, and the kindness of strangers made me want to give back by going into ministry. We may not always understand why things happen in life, but as I am finding out God has bigger plans for us than we could ever imagine for ourselves.

Gwendolyn C  on 10/29/2020 3:39:19 PM

I have searched online for many different scholarships and I came across this one. I am very excited about applying for this scholarship in November because it seems as if it was personally designed for me and other women like me. What I identify with the most is not the fact that I am a women, but I am a women that is striving to make a difference in my lives and the lives of other families, women and children It would truly be an honor to receive this scholarship as it would help me reach my goal of helping others reach their dreams.

I am a 50 year old woman attending full time classes. I have been living with and helping to take care of my mother for the past several years. She got very sick last month and was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer throughout her body. She came home for hospice care and passed away 4 days later. I am currently attending school, looking for a job and trying to get everything organized in regards to her passing away and have a real fear that I will be homeless soon. I will be applying for this scholarship when it opens.

Linda G  on 9/26/2020 10:58:50 AM

I would be so grateful for the opportunity of this scholarship. I'm a single mother age 35. The help while trying to complete my education truly would mean so much!

Marisol H  on 9/22/2020 2:57:02 PM

I would love to further my education as well my career in law enforcement. I am 41yrs old, single parent, full time police officer, with 2-3jobs at a time, and part time student at TTU. I don't received any financial help or government assistance whatsoever. I'm motivated and eager to better myself to provide for my family. I would love to have 1 job and not work 60+ hours a week. I'm only 38hrs away of receiving my bachelors degree. Due to my financial funds I can only take 1 class per semester therefor it will take me a little over 4yrs to finish. That's all I can afford and yet still sacrificing a lot just to take one class at a time. With a scholarship I can take more than one class and finish my degree in a year. If I win this scholarship it will be greatly appreciated from the bottom of heart.

Brenna A  on 9/21/2020 9:08:18 PM

I would love to apply for this scholarship. I am enrolling in Southern New Hampshire University for my BS in Accounting Finance. I am currently a stay-at-home-mom with 3 autistic teens. I would love to start a career in field to help my family. My children will need my support for the foreseeable future with their disabilities. Good luck to other moms as well for the scholarship.

Elizabeth Ij  on 9/17/2020 7:15:50 PM

I just applied to this Scholarship and I would be happy if I get it. I am 51 years old and i decided to go back to school to get my bachelors degree in Business Administration. I am a mother with 3 boys and 1 girl. I had to work to long hours to be able to provide for my family and I had to make sure my children get all the support I could give them. My children are now in the middle school and high school and I have decided to go back to school. I have paid out of pocket and it is very expensive. Getting the scholarship help me enroll for more classes. I believe in women empowerment. I am a woman leader at my church and I organized programs that empower women and also help out with women shelter and elderly homes.

tashlyn j  on 9/15/2020 1:15:01 PM

I would be happy if I got this scholarship, I am a 45 year old woman who has gone back to school to obtain my bachelors degree in human service i am working on becoming a certified alcohol and drug counselor in order to help make a difference in the lives of individuals who suffer from substance and alcohol abuse, my targeted clients would be women. I believe women can be a strong tower in their families and their communities once they are able to live a healthy, sober life from substances and alcohol.

I try to apply to all scholarships to help pay for my current classes at Potsdam State university for my bachelors in Community Health degree. I’m unemployed and currently can not work, winning a scholarship will keep my need for student loans to a bare minimum or non existent. Completing my studies will afford me the opportunity to help people and communities to find solutions to disease control in minority communities as well as giving them the tools to keep their communities safe.

I'd be happy to get the scholarship to become a successful women, build my career as a nurse, and start helping people. I'm 29, mom of 3 kids(3,6,8 age) go back to school to make my dream come true.

Leah O  on 8/25/2020 1:16:42 PM

I will apply as soon as it opens. I am a single mother of a toddler and in need for financial help for my "out of pocket" tuition expense. Federal loans and grants didn't cover my tuition for my BSN program. I want to be nurse so I can help others especially during this pandemic.

I am attempting to return to "CLASS" after being laid off from a job of 15 years. WOW !! have things changed. Thru COVID this has been a challenging experience, with everything attempting to be virtual and deadlines for paperwork to offices that are closed, workers working from home things are quite frustrating. I would like to attend a community college to finish the AAS Management Degree that I started “back in the day”. I was a working widow, tending to my children as priority and as always, I come last in line. Having a reassurance that I can attempt to maintain my present responsibilities, would give me a “peace of mind”.

Yes I did! I am a mother of 3 girls and I am 42 years old. I am looking to retire out from corrections early to pursue starting my own business in Graphic Design Textiles. I want to be able to be there for my girls when the enter middle school and not be working shift work.

I would love to win a scholarship it would mean so much to me and took so much to my kids because they have seen their mother battle at her worse and they also know that I'm not want to give up without winning just for me so much for me and my children because all I want to do is succeed in law school and make a perfect future or better yet a better future for my family!!

Melissa P  on 8/10/2020 6:03:53 PM

I have waited for my children to get a little older to finish my bachelor's degree in Culinary Management. I am not able to support myself or my children if something were to happen to my husband. I want to be an example to my children that through hard work and an education lays the foundation to your own sucess.

Atina M.  on 8/5/2020 9:54:54 PM

I plan on applying for this scholarship because it is a step closer to breaking the generational curse of staying in a social and economic deprived state with my daughter. My immediate family name is known to the welfare system and this stops with my child. No longer will I accept staying on the same course that my grandmother and mother have done. I really need this scholarship to end this hamster wheel cycle. I am a thirty seven year old single mother of one who is fed up with not having better opportunity because I don't the necessary education to qualify for a job.

I have the opportunity to go back to school after many years. My end goal is to become a Dietitian/Nutritionist, so I'm attending a two year college to gain my Associates Degree, then will transfer to a four year college for my Bachelors and Masters. My passion is to see people learn new coping skills and become healthy for themselves and family. I am taking this step because my husband and I have have had life experiences that have propelled us into healthy living. He had a heart attack in Dec. 2018 and I am a type 2 diabetic. Currently, I am a Connections Pastor at my church and also help people with nutritional questions. Throughout the years, I have learned so much on my own and now I'm seeking to be able to help people on a professional level. Thank you for your consideration! ~ Natalie Jones

Michelle A  on 7/12/2020 7:27:14 PM

I am applying to help pay for tuition, books, medical malpractice insurance, and other student fees. I am a mother of 3 trying to beat my oldest child out of college and to finish before my younger 2, freshman and sophomore, enter school.

Jennifer D  on 7/10/2020 5:58:35 AM

Yes I did apply. I am a single mom of thee amazing children 15, 13 & 10. My ten year old son has type one diabetes and college is approaching faster than I ever thought for them. I had earned my EEC certification and Liberal Arts degree at a community college before moving on to continue with a double major in Elementary Education and Sociology. I had just one semester left of Sociology before getting pregnant, unplanned. So I took a semester off which, here I am now after having been a stay at home mom for ten years, then a messy divorce. It has always been on my mind, wanting so badly to finish, but not only no time, but not enough money, so I never got around to finishing. I was also nervous, wanting to be able to put my all into it and not chance ruining my six year 3.8 average and an award I recieved from the Massachusetts Sociology department! NOW especially, more than ever, having been through some extremely difficult times and having worked with HAWC, I would be ever so grateful to complete my degree and start with some social work. Helping women and children going through what I have. Not only do I have the knowledge I have learned and carried since college, but now I personally understand on a deeper level. It would just be such a rewarding field for me. I haven't been and I know I won't be happy doing anything else.

I am interested in applying for this scholarship. I hope to be considered. I have a financial Need

Nicole G  on 6/20/2020 4:03:15 PM

I did apply. I’m divorced after 26 years, trying to improve my financial situation by going back to college. Working towards a bachelors in Respiratory Therapy.

Keirsa N  on 6/14/2020 9:54:37 AM

Yes I did apply. Needing assistance so I can finish my degree program.

Emelyn K  on 6/13/2020 9:35:57 PM

I am a mother of two, and I know I am not getting any younger, but I want to prove that education does not pick an age. I worked as a Nursing Assistant in a Home Care Facility that specializes in memory care. But then I realized that I wanted to do more, so I decided to go back and finish college. So, in the Spring of 2019 was my first semester at college, and Spring of 2020 is my third semester. I know that this is my last chance to finish my degree and make sure to get a straight 4.0 GPA is one of my goals. I believe that education is very important and is fundamental. Now my new goal is to finish my degree and be proud of myself. To dream is free and I believe that it will help me achieve my goal to be one of the best students on the campus.

Dayna M  on 6/3/2020 9:07:54 AM

Hi, I am 44 years old and working toward a Masters in Psychology. I did not realize before college that disability support was available to me. I qualified for disability support and my counselor and the team at OTC has inspired me so much that I decided I want to be a Disability Support Counselor and help others in the same way they have helped me. I am on disability, have received an Associate's Degree, and hope to receive a Master's Degree to obtain my goal. That being said, scholarships.com is confusing to me. I'm not sure if I have applied for this scholarship or not. I have tried to "apply now" and it seems I am being directed to other schools. I am not quite sure how this works. Thank you for this opportunity to help others in their quest to be the version of themselves they aspire to be.

Hello. I am applying because I will be starting the Pharmacy Technician course at Sullivan University. I have a bachelor's degree already in Healthcare management. However, I do not have the 2 years of hands on experience every position is requiring. I am enrolling back into school to not only gain the experience through the internship but to also better my families lives. I and 37 years young, and have a 15 year old son and a 20 year old daughter. My husband is disabled. I have struggled the last 2 years trying to put my degree to use, but to no avail. I know this scholarship would help with paying for my schooling. Thank you.

Stephanie D  on 4/27/2020 1:25:14 PM

I want to apply, unfortunately, the statement says I can not till November. I am finishing up my first year in college with a 4.0 GPA. I have been in addiction for 19 years, I am a 36 years old woman, and have been sober for nearly 3 years. I have found my calling and passion for helping others in this service. To help another addict and alcoholic. I feel my experience of losing my child through addiction and, living homeless will help me allow me to reach other addicts that are fighting the exact same battles. That life is possible, hope is planted. Today, I have a life with my daughter. I can definitely advance with financial help. Life has been a struggle with the COVID-19, not being able to work and to access resources.

Applying to enter the Health Care Administrative world and exit from Retail Management. Im 48 years old and taking care of my daughter whose 8 and mother 74. This online course would get me into the door of a more stable hourly work week plus giving me more time with my family instead of continuing retail hours. Thank you in advance,

vickie t  on 1/21/2015 7:31:39 AM

I applied for this scholarship because I want to continue my college education. I am 46 years old and I want to finish with my BA program where I left off and don't want to fall too far behind. I have already missed enough school because I have to somehow pay out of pocket which I can't afford right now. I have an 8 year old in school and I want to make a better living for her.

Becky J  on 12/14/2013 11:18:06 PM

Of course I applied for this scholarship because I meet all the criteria for qualifying. When I started this educational adventure I was displaced from domestic violence and living in a homeless shelter. That certainly was better than being a homeless throwaway teen whose last completed year of school was the 8th grade. This is why I'm pursuing a BA in sociology: To plan, develop, maintain, analyze and improve runaway homes for throwaway teens. Plus I have to have a bachelors in order to earn my masters degree.

Tammy C  on 10/5/2011 9:51:41 AM

Yes, I applied for the scholarship. The reason for applying, I am 45 years of age; returning back to school to major into another career due to my illness and being able to continue working in the workforce. I have one child at home, in high school and looking to make a difference in her life, as well as mind. I want to be that inspiration to my daughter/children that it doesn't matter the age, but what do matter is being determining to achieve in life as a provider of your home.

TONI P  on 2/11/2011 2:23:15 AM

I applied for this scholarship because I am in hot pursuit of my first BA degree in psychology. I will then go on, hopefully, to obtain my Master's and go into counseling full time with an emphasis on our military who should be home by then. Being disabled right now, I look forward to re-training and getting back into the workforce. With this scholarship I can continue my education without building more debt in the process. With my pursuing higher education, my children will pursue a higher education as well.
