I’ve always thought of becoming an artist growing up. Forever had fantasy’s and loved science fictions, alway a passion of mine. Why I see myself apply for this scholarship, is due to a lot of relative reasons. My dad grew up with little to no education while my mom tried her best to Perdue her dreams but later had a massive heart attack that lead her to a rehabilitation center. Being 22 and not being able to afford art school see it as an opportunity to apply and be able to make my mom proud. Thank yoo

On one hand, it's the leader of the Scientology cult... on the OTHER hand it's free money... decisions, decisions.

Aaron S  on 3/3/2020 12:53:49 AM

Might try this, Perhaps I will be writing religious material for scientologists worldwide!

Cassandra R  on 2/5/2020 8:25:07 PM

Ugh...I'm debating whether or not i should apply for this...this is supporting the crazy cook that founded the cult...but damn, the money is perfect for my tuition...hmmm.

Jenny N  on 1/16/2020 4:49:35 PM

Can someone explain to me what "Scientology"is, who exactly L. Ron Hubbard is? I keep reading comments below and it is frequently mentioned.

Melissa C  on 1/8/2020 3:08:17 PM

“ illustrate on the name of a guy who started a cult” Me: oh nah fam Them: but you have a chance to get money Me: oh yeah applying rn

Curtis B  on 12/21/2019 1:30:49 AM

Being a young black kid from a trailer park ,imagination in science was always second nature to me because it was all I had to keep me from transcending from poverty into a place of stars & rowing a boat down a waterfall it became a part of me despite what my family has been through. None of my parents went to college my mom didn't make it out of 7th grade but sacrificed stressful years to took care of us .I owe it to her to be the man she want me to be with something I love doing.where I get lots of inspiration from my family . I have a purpose & I know its going to happen & applying for this scholarship can as-well make it happen. being a kid from trailer parks to projects I always felt of a place better than this. token for my life and is the most specific one of the scholarships .Thank you so much.

Jenna S  on 12/17/2019 10:48:27 AM

Is it morally okay for me to apply to this?...

Eric K  on 12/12/2019 12:05:57 PM

I mean do I have to join his cult or...?

Alethea C  on 12/8/2019 12:18:41 PM

honestly ? being sponsored by scientology without having to join ? sounds dope

Abigail S  on 12/5/2019 2:13:51 PM

Honestly, the Scientology thing about this doesn't bother me all that much. I'm not affiliated with Scientology, this seems like an easy scholarship for someone who can't srop coming up with characters *cough cough* me *cough cough*

Addie H  on 12/1/2019 2:02:38 PM

Wait....is this serious? As in the founder of Scientology?

Jenna H  on 9/26/2019 2:08:39 PM

Funny if you think I'm going to apply to this L Ron Hubbard scholarship. He started a cult that has destroyed thousands. sick.

Ashlyn C  on 8/13/2019 12:22:38 PM

Scientology? yeet.

Meriza G  on 5/27/2019 1:06:37 PM

This maybe the most convenient scholarship ever for me since its quite hard to find scholarships nowadays that have to do with art in general. i'm a upcoming high school senior and I've been a lot of illustration work for about 6 years now. I hope my work will be satisfactory to their program. I applied for this one back in March and if I don't get anything out of it, I can just apply again! What a good opportunity!

Claudia H  on 5/24/2019 11:54:57 AM

L Ron Hubbard lol

Caro L  on 5/22/2019 4:03:14 PM

Is converting to Scientology a condition for applying?

Kisembo S  on 5/19/2019 10:11:06 AM

This could be an opportunity to cover my tuition. I'm really glad to apply for this scholarship.

Jed B  on 5/9/2019 2:52:04 PM

I'm sorry but...THE L. Ron Hubbard?....yeah....I would really avoid this if I were you, considering where the location is and who the guy is in general...and their daffy religion..

Krista G  on 5/7/2019 10:14:08 AM

My mother was diagnosed with Menieres disease which causes terrible tinnituts and vertigo and now she is on disability and cannot afford for me to attend art school. I will be sure to give back in the future when I am successful. Thank you.

Mariah B  on 2/28/2019 12:09:03 PM

L. Ron Hubbard founded Scientology... I don't know if I should trust this one.

Ayleen G  on 1/22/2019 1:02:37 PM

is this the guy that would beat his jazz band if they played notes wrong?

Izabella A  on 1/10/2019 8:58:52 PM

I am very passionate about my art. I am a high school senior and my twin sister and I are both planning to attend art school. So my poor mom has to pay 2 times tuition. Any help is so very much appreciated. We both paint and draw every day. Art is such a major part of our lives. Thank you for considering my application

Emily S  on 1/6/2019 8:28:51 PM

So.. no one is going to comment on how L Ron Hubbard is the founder of a cult. Ok.

Samserai C  on 12/26/2018 11:54:36 AM

good luck to everyone that applied! :0

Brandon Z  on 12/19/2018 11:09:43 PM

Oof, I hope my submission will work out in this scholarship. I haven't drawn in awhile. I am hopeful I can do good enough for this scholarship.

Alix M  on 12/19/2018 2:02:32 PM

Now this, is epic

Francene B  on 12/14/2018 11:20:16 AM

I am applying for this scholarship to acquire a degree in art - I would like to be an art teacher and further my education. My goal is to teach underprivileged children in title 1 school districts, be involved in summer programs that help support the arts. I believe the earlier we teach students to be creative the better problem solvers they become. This also supports creative thinking needed for the arts, computer science, engineering and all facets of learning.

santiago p  on 12/3/2018 9:33:36 PM

I am shy about my art but I need the money with much desperation so I will give it a shot, I hope I get the money since I am paycheck to paycheck and having a hard time to pay for school as most of all of us.

Cristian S  on 11/21/2018 6:12:03 PM

I really hope I can get this scholarship My drawing is not perfect but at least i try

Alano C  on 11/20/2018 5:43:31 PM

Super nervous to share my artwork, but if it means getting money for college then I'm all for it!

Quincy G  on 11/19/2018 9:39:10 AM

I applied for this scholarship because I love art. Also, my mom is disabled and unable to maintain a steady income. Any financial assistance will help.

Marisela C  on 8/31/2018 3:45:16 PM

I am applying for your scholarship in order further my education as well as do something no one in my family has done before, go to college. I will be a first generation college student if I can get the assistance I need to do so. My father is my inspiration to go to college. He has never gone to college, he was an immigrant new to this country 18 years ago he worked hard everyday starting from the bottom at most jobs and working his way up. Thru his hard work and ethics he was able to get his citizenship a few years ago. Hard work and determination, he has completely instilled in me what it can accomplish and I take that into everything I do. My dream is to pursue art, specifically computer animation. I currently work part time at the restaurant my very father now is co owner to in my home town and although I do not have all the extra curricular activities that most students pursue, I enjoy all of my artistic endeavors I have had from assisting in the art class room in high school to assisting my long time art teacher with his out side classes which I participate in as well. I have been in the art club at my high school and have assisted with designing sets for the drama club. I would like to thank you in advance for your time and consideration in reading this.

by Izzy Hall

Many colleges have waived SAT and ACT score requirements for high school seniors currently applying to college due to how difficult it has been to sign up for standardized testing during the coronavirus pandemic. Now some colleges are also waiving standardized test score requirements when awarding merit scholarships to incoming students. Instead of requiring SAT and ACT scores, these schools will award scholarships based on high school GPA. [...]
