  • Scholarship Description
  • In honor of the legacy of Melissa Anne Centrella, which gives scholarships to students going into nursing or medical sciences. Because of how the shortage of nurses affected our family dramatically. Also to further help find an answer for Dystonia, so that no other family has to live through what we did. The Melissa's Hope Scholarships serve as a tribute to Melissa Centrella's life of courage and love. As a tribute to Melissa's life of courage and love, family and friends established Melissa's Hope, a scholarship foundation which awards several scholarships annually to New Jersey students pursuing careers in nursing, medical sciences or a medical technical field. In 2014, the foundation expanded its mission to provide grants for special needs children and their families. Each year, Melissa's Hope awards several scholarships to New Jersey students pursuing careers in nursing, medical sciences, or a medical technical field. Because medicine and care were so important to Melissa's daily life, she had a deep respect for the people that helped to bring dignity, comfort, and attention to her special needs.
