Scholarship Description

The Microsoft Cybersecurity Scholarship Program aims to address the critical shortage of trained cybersecurity professionals by supporting community college students pursuing degrees or certificates in cybersecurity and related fields. The program provides financial assistance and exam subsidies to help students complete their education and start a career in cybersecurity.

Scholarship Details

  • Financial assistance up to $500 for short-term basic needs (food, rent, health-related issues, transportation, car issues, or a laptop/device)
  • Subsidies up to $375 for cybersecurity certification exam costs
  • Access to LinkedIn Premium, GitHub Global Campus, and Global Mentors Initiative
  • Open to community college students and students enrolled in bootcamp programs
  • Dual enrollment high school students also attending community college are eligible if they meet age and program requirements

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must currently reside in the United States
  • Must be currently enrolled in a U.S. community college, bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree, or certificate program
  • Must be at least 18 years old at the time of application
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Students from underrepresented groups in cybersecurity (women, non-binary, Black, Latinx, Indigenous, veterans, or individuals with a disability) are encouraged to apply
  • Eligible programs include: cybersecurity, network security, digital forensics, ethical hacking, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, computer science, software development, web development, and more

Application Process

  1. Complete the online application form
  2. Provide proof of enrollment in an eligible program
  3. Demonstrate financial need on the application
  4. Submit required tax forms (W8 or W9) with social security or ITIN number
