EQuity is a Black-owned learning and development venture working to advance racial justice by developing emotional intelligence. To amplify our work at the intersection of emotional intelligence and racial justice, we are launching a scholarship essay competition. This fall we will be awarding a $5,000 scholarship to the winner. Any degree-seeking student is eligible to apply. Complete an interest form in order to receive all information about the scholarship moving forward. Students of all racial identities are encouraged to apply. White supremacy and anti-Blackness impact us all, and we all have a role to play in addressing their impact.
New essay prompts are posted on the website each year. Essays are suggested to be between 700-900 words and will be evaluated on the following criteria: relevance to the prompt, clarity of ideas, thought-provoking story, authenticity, and originality. To be eligible to apply, you will need to be enrolled in a degree-granting program this fall. EQuity recognizes the historic and contemporary barriers to college. We are committed to having a community essay writing competition in the future. Sign up for our newsletter for more information.
