The Lisa Michelle Memorial Fund offers scholarships to students who have lost a parent to alcohol, drug or prescription drug abuse. To be eligible, applicants must: be a legal US citizen and enrolled in a college or university located in the US; have a 3.0 GPA; show proof of part-time or full-time enrollment (via proof of registration from the registrar's office, or a class schedule that has their name and student ID); and have never been a recipient of this scholarship before. Applicants must have American or Canadian citizenship.
In addition to completing the application, applicants must also submit an essay of approximately 800-1500 words that describes the following (first and last name included at top of essay): how your parent or guardian passed away and how you got through that difficult time in your life; what your biggest challenges were being a student with a parent struggling from addiction; why you feel you should be awarded this scholarship; and how this scholarship will make a difference in your life.
