I am developing my chef's fusion bistro direction for Bubbles Table Bar that I plan to have located in Seattle, Washington. I have an exiciting menu plan that includes such things as Cioppino, fried green tomatoes and classics such as peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Attending the Culinary Arts program at Seattle Central Community College this fall will be a great addition to a great plan.

Since I could remember I’ve always wanted to feed people’s souls. Not to just give them good food but to give them a experience where they feel loved, just by the taste of my food dancing on their taste buds. I know for me to make that happen, I will need to further my education. This scholarship will help me make my dreams come true.

This is my reason for applying for this scholarship. I love baking and cooking. I bake more than I cook. have depression and when I am baking or cooking, it makes those thoughts go away. I want to go to college for Culinary Arts. When I get done with college I want to get a good culinary job and save up money to open up my own cafe so I can bake and cook my thoughts away and be happy.

Im applying for this scholarship because, i love baking and pastry. I was at the art institute here in ca, at san bernadino. They closed down and i didnt even get to finish. I only had 2 quarters to go. all of the other ai near me shut down as well. No where is accepting my transcripts and i have to start from scratch to get my associates degree. And now im stuck paying off a loan. And my dream is to be a top pastry chef and i work as a pastry chef for a restaurant but, to me that degree meant everything to me and now i cant really afford to get into another culinary school because of my loans and all my stuff for ai. This scholarship would really help me finish up my degree. I have two little boys who love what i do and i wouldnt change it for the world

Is it too late to apply for this scholarship because it's not letting me apply?

Pat langnau  on 12/23/2017 2:19:05 PM

I told my granddaughter Tahlia Linder about this. She has been accepted at Johnson & Wales in Miami where she wants to study the pastry arts. They have offered a scholarship to her but it is not enough. She has a GPA of 4.1, she is biracial and Jewish. She has been very active in her High School band in Pensacola Florida where she plays the trombone and has been a drum major for 2 years. She would be a credit to any school.

Katrina V  on 12/20/2017 3:14:07 PM

I am a Alaskan Native American enrolled to attend the Culinary Institute of American, Greystone campus in California. I am currently volunteering for a local soup kitchen in my home town to satisfy enrollment requirements. I am seriously interested in pursuing this academic goal and return to my home community and serve aquatic foods to my Native community. My grandfather was an Alaskan Native elder and motivated me to pursue college. His response to my questioning about his taste in foods was always countered by, "my next meal". I miss him and his humor and standing in the Native community. Since his death I am more than motivated to obtain and education in the Culinary Arts and return to my Native community to serve others.

Schools Offering Tuition Discounts This Fall

August 14, 2020

by Izzy Hall

The coronavirus pandemic has affected nearly everything about college – and for some schools, that includes tuition. Beyond tuition freezes or removing application fees, these colleges have gone one step further in reducing costs for their students. A tuition discount recognizes not only the economic difficulties many students and their families are facing due to COVID-19, but also acknowledges that mostly or entirely online classes are generally not perceived as being worth the same amount of money as a full residential college experience. Some of these institutions also plan to offer additional scholarship funding to the students who need it most. [...]

College Athletic Conferences Make Final Call on Fall Seasons

August 13, 2020

by Izzy Hall

Earlier this summer, the Big Ten Conference announced they would be playing only in-conference football games if the Fall 2020 football season went ahead. But last week, they and the Pac-12 conference both announced that Fall 2020 athletics would be cancelled due to concerns about student athlete safety. Meanwhile, their brethren Power 5 conferences to the South – The Atlantic Coast, Big 12 and Southeastern conferences – have decided to go ahead with the Fall 2020 football season. [...]

Student-Run Food Banks Making a Difference on Campus

August 11, 2020

by Izzy Hall

You may be surprised to learn that many of your fellow college students struggle with hunger. About 1 in 5 students are affected by food insecurity. In a normal time, not getting enough to eat can impact students’ grades, health and ability to finish their degrees. And a loss of campus jobs, housing and meal plans due to the pandemic puts more students in danger of going without the food they need. That’s where student-run food banks and pantries come in. [...]
