The Forman Acton Foundation is dedicated to empowering the youth of Salem City through its scholarship program. To qualify for acceptance as a Forman Scholar, students must meet specific educational, financial, and demographic requirements aligned with the program's policies and the Foundation's Certificate of Incorporation. Here's how you can apply:
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Senior Year of High School:
•Applicants must be in their senior year of high school.
2. Residency in Salem City:
•Applicants should be residents of Salem City or attend school in Salem City.
3. Enrollment in Acorn Fund:
•Applicants must be enrolled in the Foundation's Acorn Fund.
4. Academic Promise:
•Demonstrate above-average academic promise with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Enrollment in an honors program is not a prerequisite.
5. Financial Aid:
•Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
•Provide Expected Family Contribution (EFC) verification obtained through the FAFSA.
6. Well-Rounded Experiences:
•Possess well-rounded experiences, leadership qualities, and a commitment to community service.
7. Higher Education Studies:
•Plan to begin higher education studies in the fall semester following high school graduation.
8. Minority Heritage:
The Foundation prioritizes supporting children of minority heritage who exhibit above-average academic promise and are economically disadvantaged or underprivileged.
Selection Process:
•The Scholarship Committee, consisting of educators, Salem High School graduates, and Foundation staff, carefully evaluates each applicant.
•The Forman Acton Foundation independently administers and funds the scholarship, with all decisions, processes, and selections made strictly by the Foundation.
Note:
This scholarship is a collaborative effort between the Forman Acton Foundation and the Salem City School District, with the common goal of educating Salem's youth. While both entities work together, the annual selection of Forman Scholars is solely managed by the Forman Acton Foundation.
