The Josephine Clark Tutt Memorial Scholarship assists graduating seniors at Lucy C. Laney High School to continue their pursuit of a secondary education and to honor Mrs. Josephine Clark Tutt. To be eligible, the applicant shall be a a graduating senior at Lucy C. Laney High School and a resident of Richmond County. First consideration shall be given to an applicant who will graduate with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Additional consideration shall be given to a student who needs financial assistance to continue his/her education in the pursuit of their chosen degree/career. The applicant shall have been active in community, church and/or extra-curricular activities.
The applicant shall complete the application form provided by the Community Foundation for the CSRA, along with a letter of recommendation. The applicant shall provide an unofficial transcript and a personal essay in which they discuss why they chose their desired field of study, how receiving the scholarship will assist them in achieving their educational goals, and how they plan to use their education to pay it forward, demonstrating a commitment to service and to helping others. The narrative shall be between 500-750 words.
