The Joshua David Gardner Memorial Scholarship is open to United States citizens (ages 17-25) who are admitted or enrolled in an accredited four-year historically black college or university in the United States with a minimum grade point average (G.P.A.) of 3.0/4.0. Students must be seeking a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and be a full-time. There are no major or field of study criteria or requirements. Funds must be used for tuition, fees, and/or books.
Besides completing the application, applicants must also submit: official transcripts from high school or an accredited four-year college or university; three letters of reference (at least one from an academic reference, attesting to the applicant’s character, leadership ability, and academic ability); and a 500-word essay on an assigned topic. Selected awardees will be notified in writing by May 31. Awards will be disbursed directly to the institution of higher education on or before August 1.
