  • Applicants of the Matt Fong Asian Americans in Public Finance Scholarship must be a full-time undergraduate at a four-year college/university in California in the upcoming academic year. Applicants must major in accounting, political science, public policy, business administration or related fields and be of Asian heritage (at least 50%), have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to those with record of community service or volunteer work.

    The Matt Fong Asian Americans in Public Finance scholarship honors the memory of former California state treasurer, Matt Fong, for his dedication to public service, active involvement in state politics, and direct impact he had in opening up opportunities for Asian Americans in the public finance industry. In addition to completing the application, applicants must also submit a transcript, two letters of recommendation and an online interview (to be scheduled if selected as finalist).

I am inspired by the late Matt Fong and his work. Matt was able to achieve something I always dreamed off. Matt Wong work in the public sector creating security for the people while experiencing what it was like to work in Government. I am studying BAS applied in accounting and would like to be State treasurer as well. After that, with all the experience and money I saved up I will open a CPA Firm
