I am applying to this scholarship because I believe I am a great leader who is just as strong headed as my family members. My father was in the Navy and served in the police force during 9/11. My step brother is currently serving in the National Coast Guard and is always traveling. Both of my Grandpas served in the US Army. I have been shown what hard work and diligence truly is. From their experiences they have taught me all the things I need to know in becoming the well rounded and brave person I am today. I'm able to stick up for myself, others and help everyone to the best of my abilities. I can handle any task put in my way, I always find a way to do them.

Missed the nomination cut off date by 1 day to put in my daughter. Wish this scholarship was better advertised in our military branches for children or people to apply more readily. It such a honor to receive this scholarship.

I am applying for this application because I am trying to attend the University of Pretoria in South Africa to pursue my dream of becoming a wildlife veterinarian. I know I will try my best to graduate top of my class just like my dad did when he was in EOD school. Most kids dream of becoming a firefighter, police officer, doctor, or a vet to house pets but I was different. I have dreamed of becoming a wildlife veterinarian from a young age and will do everything I can to try and make it come true.

I want to apply for this scholarship for my amazing father. He was a nuclear mechanic on submarines in the United States Navy for 20 years and I couldn't be more proud of all the things he accomplished. He supported four children on his income for greater than ten years when two of them were not his. He deployed multiple times while I was really little. When he got a divorce he did everything he could to make enough money to support my younger brother and I while trying to spend as much time at home with us as possible. When he got remarried to my step mom he had three more children. In 2017, three days after the twins turned ten months old my dad packed up all his things and drove across the country to Bangor, Washington to serve on the USS Pennsylvania. He was deployed for his own children's first birthday and had to spend that entire day working. In 2011, my dad was pinned chief by himself because he was the only one down in Kingsland, Georgia who was qualified at the time. In January of 2018, my youngest brother was born while my dad was flying back out to Washington, so he had to catch the first flight he possibly could in order to meet his new son. Then he left and was gone until August right before I started my tenth grade year. On September 21 after twenty years 3 months and 14 days of service in the United States Navy my father retired as a Chief Petty Officer. I want this award for him more than anything because he has given up so much to serve this country including his kids' birthdays and missing his final child's birth. As for my siblings and I, we have had to stay strong through all the hardships that we faced having a geo bachelor father and a mom who had three children under the age of three. I want people to understand the true fights that come from not just the military service personnel but their families as well.

I am applying for the scholarship, because I want to pursue journalism.
The point of getting an education, is a want to better understand the world around me. What I want to accomplish is creating a bridge between information and the public. Information is not something that should carry an implied right or wrong answer. I want to establish an objective environment where I can provide the public with the tools to create their own definitions for situations. This the optimal goal; construct an effective medium to make communication easier to access without getting lost in everyday information overload.
My passion for writing is my drive to want to better understand the world around me. I feel that the people deserve to know all sides of different issues. Moreover, journalism is not a career field than will eventually find its way to irrelevancy. It will always be a necessary part of our society. I see education as a way to open doors that many wouldn’t even think to consider and the opportunity to grow with the world around me, not after it.
I believe that in addition to the brilliant and inquiring perspectives and views already at the campus, I can also add my own. This is ambitious; it is aa tenacious collection of passionate aspirations that are unique to myself. To put it simply, it is me: my truth, and my perception.

I am applying for this scholarship because my dad is my absolute role model, serving our country for 22 years. I made my project on the hope that I can help and influence people the way he did. I want my dad to be recognized for all of his efforts, he believes in all the sacrifices he's made, such as, his personality changing was his duty to his country. He is not the same man as he once was before. My dad never wants to be recognized and I hope to win this award for him. So at least someone can recognize him and show the world how extravagant he is.

Both my parents were in the Air Force and I desire to go in as well. I believe that service is important and that people who serve the community make the world a better place. I have worked in the community as a volunteer and I will continue to do so in college. I hope to go to ROTC and finish college.

I am applying for this scholarship for my father. He served the U.S. Army for 13 years as a tanker and is currently 100% medically disabled. He deployed to Iraq 3 times each deployment lasting over 6 months), attended sniper school, was part of the QRF, had his Hum-V hit by an enemy RPG missile, and is currently eligable for a Purple Heart Award. He is now unable to work with PTSD, TBI, a broken back, completely numb arms/hands, hearing issues, and knee pain. He has gone through so much within his lifetime and I wish to spread word and honor him through this process, as this topic means a lot to me and my family.

I am applying for the scholarship because my dad was in the navy during 9/11 and I want to be able to tell my dads story. he was a hero and he saved lives. I want to follow in my fathers foot steps but before I do that, I want his name to be known and used for a good cause.

I am applying for this scholarship in regards to my mother who is in the U.S. Navy and has served for about 18 years now. I come from a military family but the greatest influence out of all the heroes in my family has been my mother. She has inspired me to follow in her footsteps and has motivated me to be the best me possible in life. I want to be the image my mother is to me to everyone I surround myself in life, and winning this award would be a great honor because I can represent my mother, and the military as a future soldier. That is why I am applying for this scholarship.

I am applying for this scholarship in regards of my mother serving the US Air Force for a total of about 20 years. She has inspired me to do many great things in life, and pushes me to try my best in everything I do. Though I do not plan on serving in the military, I still hope to be able to serve my community as well as she does.

I am applying for this scholarship due to my dad serving in the US Military for 17 years. I loved that he fulfilled most of his life so far as a Military Drill Sergeant. I am hoping one day I could join the Military and do the same thing that my did. Fight for our countries freedom. I would love this more than anything and make more than just my dad proud. I hope one day my family is depending on me in the future. It would be my dream to take care of my whole entire family.

I am applying for this scholarship. My father served and retired from the U. S. Navy and my mother as well until a massive stroke. Now it's my time to show them how much I want to take care of them. I want this for me more than anything.
